Round Up didn't work to clear out my flower beds. What can I get at Lowes to kill it all? Planning to put new mulch and flowers in fall or spring. Thanks!

really? glyphosate didn't work????

Worked for a few weeks, but it all came back.

oh then kill it with glyphosate then put down a pre-emergent.

That means you didn't kill it or diluted to far. Spray it and them respray 2-3 days later.

1. Make sure the weeds/grass are not drought stressed. Yes, drought stress reduces the efficacy of glyphosate so you may need to hydrate your weeds (soil they are going in) before spraying.
2. Spray again with Roundup. Do not over-dilute or spray so much that it runs off the leaves. Do not apply if rain is expected within a few hours (you should be fine here obviously)
3. Wait 14 days. If control was inadequate repeat the process.

I guess I should ask what you are trying to kill before giving a blanket answer. So, what are you trying to kill?

Im guessing bermuda. Did you install the beds or were they there previously? If you installed them, did you make sure all the bermuda, etc was dead at the root before bedding over them? If you didnt make sure ALL the green was gone, the bermuda was never fully dead and has rooted under the bed. Bermuda is the cat with 9 lives in regards to most flower bed installation.

I did not install the beds, they were here by previous owners. Trying round up again this week. If it comes back after that?

if it comes back again it means you didn't fully kill it, or there are existing seeds that are germinating.

Always remember: The easiest weed to kill is a healthy, happy weed. Roundup is an excellent grass killer (its value on broadleaves needes to be enhanced - but that's a different thread). The biggest mistake I commonly see with spraying is the use of surfactant. When in doubt, put a squirt of dishsoap in the mix to make everything spread and stick.

Don't mow or weedeat the weeds for a few days after you apply the herbicide either.

Another tip on round up is to put a squirt of dish soap in your sprayer. This helps the round up stick to the plant better.
