For the Dallas area?

My parents have it in East Texas where it's much more humid and it looks great and is supposedly not as susceptible to crap as St. Augustine.

My St. Augustine sucks and is currently being overtaken by Bermuda so I have 2 grass types and then a prominent dead area where the St. Augustine didn't survive the massive freeze we had.

edit: thinking of replacing the whole shebang with Centipede while completel removing grass in the backyard and much of it in teh front yard to reduce my total grass footprint.

I would not recommend it in Dallas. Centipede is barely tolerable of shade and traffic, loves sandy/acidic soil and nothing else, has shallow roots, is not salt tolerant, is highly susceptible to nematodes, and will die at about the same temps as st augustine (damaged at 15, killed at 5 F).

Twiggy is probably correct. If you want something that will perform go with Bermuda. It is easy to care for and there are lots of products out there in case it has issues as it is common.

If you want something different, go with zoysia. Keep in mind, you will need a different mower than with bermuda or st. augustine.
