They should say, here you go and have at it. Him doing this is the best pr the pga could have. Will he be able to still compete at a high level?? He is kinda flaky. I think we would devs number of mc next to his name.

Take him back seems like a no brainer PR move

Taking him back is clearly the smart move from a business standpoint but I suspect a significant percentage of the tour membership is against letting him back in without some punishment (either time or money). Will be a tricky needle to thread for the new commissioner.

If they make it easy, the floodgate to getting anyone else that matters over the next year opens and LIV basically dies. They should make it easy.

The one thing they have going for them with Brooks (and just about anybody they'd want back) is his exemption from his PGA Championship win is still in it's 5 year time frame. Same for Rahm, Bryson and Cam Smith. Not sure who else on LIV that would apply to, you get 5 years for a major or Players win. Looking back it apply to Phil's 2021 major win, but he isn't leaving and that times out after this year.

So they could just decide that if your exemption from a win hasn't timed out, you can come back on a conditional basis or something.

Rory turned down a couple hundred million just to let Brooks waltz back into the tour. Ha!

Rory didn't turn down ***** LIV enriched he and the other top Tour players immensely.

Brooks probably thinks HyFlyers are too much for his team.

One thing Brooks has going for him is he didn't unnecessarily burn bridges when he left.

If he wasn't part of the initial lawsuit against the PGAT that will help his case. Guys were already hinting at his return in some interviews a week or so ago during TGL. Maybe have him pay a fine but let him play immediately. He's a future hall of famer.

He wasn't part of the suit. And I think that's a huge difference between him and Bryson in terms of being welcomed back.

Agree. It is exhibition golf with a few names and a bunch of nobodies and has-beens (largely foreign). Completely unserious.

The pga tour has liv on the ropes here. If they play their cards half correct it would push liv to further irrelevance.

While I agree, whether LIV continues is entirely up to the Saudis. If they want to keep setting a billion dollars on fire every year, it'll exist. The day they don't want to do that is the day it dies.

Yes, the saudis can fund indefinitely, but when all they are left with is a spare-ass exhibition form of the dp world tour, i'm guessing a decision to move on will happen sooner vs later.

I'm presuming that the Saudis' billions will be able to lure other guys over. But I agree that it's getting harder and harder for them to attract the top guys and will probably be relegated to signing 2nd and 3rd tier guys if they keep this going.

Recently signed Detry but whiffed on Bhatia. I think their play now is purely international. Which may work out fine for them but they swung and missed in the US. I think that was partly due to arrogance by their leadership. They never invested enough in drumming up local interest for the US tournaments, and the states is where their biggest backlash was always going to be.

If they stick around, I think Detry is about the level of players they'll get from here out.

As for the US, as the USFL proved in the 80s, once a league establishes itself as the premier league, fans really don't have any appetite for a competitor, even if they are willing to spend a bunch of money to lure big names over.

Yeah, because all of us would pass up life changing money to do the same job for a different employer.

Tour should make it easy for him and the others to come back. He helped make current Tour players more money. Tour players need to put on their big boy panties and realize they have a good chance to kill LIV if they do things right. I think the fact that the new commissioner is not a long time Tour insider makes it more likely this will happen than not.

Not sure what we've seen from the PGAT throughout this saga that would make any of us think that they will play their cards half right.

As I said right above you, I think the fact that the new Tour commissioner is not a long time Tour insider changes things. Coming with mostly NFL experience, he brings a different viewpoint to the sport/business of professional golf and I think he sees the big upside to bringing LIV players back into the PGA fold.

I have no doubt he does. The issue is whether he can persuade the players to feel the same and put the good of the game ahead of their desire to punish the guys that left. If I was guessing, I think he probably can (at least for Koepka) but will be worth following.

Rory, Tiger, Scottie and a few others are going to be the ones to decide how this plays put. Tour equity investor SSG will also get some input here. With a new schedule coming I would think they would want him to be in good standing if that debut happens in 2027. Bryson would be a tough one because of the lawsuit. I don't think Cam Smith is relevant anymore (sad). Rahm is back in a heartbeat. Who else would they really want; Patrick Reed is not a popular guy on tour from the vibes I get. Nieman, maybe?

I think a condition of their reinstatement should be that they are required to play every event on Tour over a 2-3 year period. No more cherry picking the events they want to play; you'll have to support the Tour by competing in all of the events. Kopeka having to play playing Puerto Rico, Utah, Mississippi, etc. If returning to the Tour is that important to them, they'll have to accept the Tour's conditions.

Why should they? They were told if they went to LIV they were banned for life from the PGA and they need to stick to their guns.

The PGA Tour is about to make some significant changes in the coming months led by the new commissioner, Tiger, SSG and others. There will be a revamped Year 2027 schedule that will feature bigger purses and less number of events for the top players. The new commissioner will make it possible for those LIV players to rejoin eventually.
