As far as format, something that at least ends in match play would be fun. That said, yes, this event is most like other PGA events, but I think that's actually appropriate. Augusta is Augusta. The US Open is usually going to be a setup that the USGA has pushed to the brink of Tardville. And the Open is obviously a different style altogether. But the PGA always has the deepest field, and I just don't mind one solitary major that resembles a championship version of what they play every week. It's actually kind of the point given what it represents

I think time of year hurts this major. Should not have moved from its original spot as the last of the 4 for the year.

Agree with that. It's all packed too tight and this window is the worst of all.

I think I agree with pretty much all. 1. Scheduling sucks and moving it from August was a mistake. 2. Playing normal courses takes away from prestige. 3. Maybe change format to something unique, like 128 field match play?

Luckily after 2027 they go on a run of major venues like baltusrol, congressional, etc.

Moving it to May means it will finally come back to Texas at least. There is some good old day syndrome here because August sucked. It was a complete afterthought

Venues matter. Playing at a regular tour stop takes away from the prestige IMO.

No, Tulsa was not in Augustit was late May. It was actually pretty cold out there Saturday morning as well.

Schedule change has been very good for the PGA. It was awful in August.

True. And until they made the change they were not going back due to weather and current players' opinion towards weather. And Tulsa is still like 200 miles north of any potential Texas major course.

They weren't going to play in 100+ again if they could help it. Texas had no chance of hosting a major again until this move. But I maintain this has been a good change for focus on PGA.

Agreed. The PGA was always an afterthought before the move.

Scottie was a bit all over the place. Pulls tee shot badly on 2 and I guess gets a few bounces on the cart path. Looks dead and winds up 87 yards with clear shot. Of course gets up and down for birdie. Pretty good break because it looked like back to back bogeys was a real possibility when the tee ball was in the air. Guessing that settles him in a bit and he cruises from here.

Does anyone know how much the downhill drop is on #6? They had the distance at 252 for the par 3, but I didn't see what it actually plays at. Tried googling but coming up short.

I was joking when Scottie got a bogey on the 1st, but he is scrambling more than usual.

He definitely seems slightly off. Also he is showing why he's the best in the world. He could easily but 3 over today and is only 1 over at his point. Taking advantage of breaks like on 2. Making a couple of unlikely putts. Everyone else would be and is 2-3 over but he is hanging in there without his best so far.

That Finau putting setup seems like one that could never be consistent. Putter tilted all to hell and his eyes are like a foot off the line
