I replaced my 58 degree with this and have been happy ever since. Yes, I have a 7 wood. Yes I have graphite irons. No I'm not 65. I just like making golf easier on myself.

That's about same loft as an 8 iron

If u are wanting to add another club see if u get same results with ur 8iron

I've had it in the bag for a while. It's loft is like my 8 iron but it's a lot heavier and the shaft is more like a putter. It's extremely easy to hit and just seems to always work well.

Kinda depends how the rest of his bag is set up and what his goals and HC are.

I think it's fine if he's using it while working on other shots to get rid of it eventually. Or if he's not trying to get significantly better and just enjoys playing then I'd 100% keep it.

As players get better those types of clubs get dropped just because it limits options on other shots

** I'll add that course makes a difference too. I can't play my course without a 58/60 it just makes some shots almost not possible. So if his course isn't firm/fast or maybe doesn't have deep bunkers then take that LW out for sure

I carried a Cleveland C wedge chipper until I switched out my irons. Besides using it around the green, it was also very useful chipping out of hard pan around trees or other areas where a full swing wasn't needed or even possible. Handy little utility club that earned a spot in my bag. After getting new irons, I compared my short game stats using the chipper vs using the new 9 iron in the same situations, and the 9 iron was as good or better. So I sold the chipper. But I'll never throw shade at any player who uses one.

I think what Obi is getting at is that proper technique trumps just about everything

Some very simple changes will all but gaurantee ball first contact unless your hand eye coordination just cant do it

Bag is a driver , 3 wood, 7 wood, 4H, 5-PW, 45, 50, chipr, putter

High handicap, may eventually ditch the 4H for a 55. The 7 wood and the 4H have a lot of cross with each other.

So.... you hit bunker shots with what club?
And what is the loft of your PW? You really need a PW and a 45 degree wedge?

Bunkers are really shallow so I can get out with a 50. The 45 came with the iron set. Ping G430's at standard lofts.

"if you can use your putter, then use your putter"

Yeah, obviously doesn't apply in this case. That's a "you can't use a putter because it won't work" situation. Common sense, people.
