I hate to admit, but it's pretty entertaining
It will fade over time, but for 2 hours on Tuesday nights, this is fun. The pace of play that the format facilitates is great

The technology is amazing of course. And I agree hitting off natural surfaces are good. But I'm not seeing anything too redeeming in the product. Will give them time to try and dial it in as it's opening night but I struggle to see this gaining traction.

Neither. They aren't real holes, but they were designed specifically for this by three different course architect groups

Pretty much. Whatever team that has the hammer can throw it during the hole, and if the other team accepts, the hole is worth two. If they don't accept they forfeit the hole

I guess the only scenario is by declining you only lose 1 point instead of possibly 2? Only thing I can think of.
It makes sense in certain scenarios. If both teams are on the green in the same amount of strokes and with one having a 6ft putt and the other having a 15 footer. The team with the 6ft putt could throw the hammer forcing the other team to essentially "fold" rather than having to sink a 15 foot putt just to most likely tie. If they accept then whoever wins gets 2 pts
Meh. I don't hate to admit it. I'm loving this so far. It's idiocracy golf but it's a perfect filler for an otherwise boring night of the week. I'm having a blast watching this and Im a golf puristAggieIce said:

Some of the hole designs are awesome.

Think this was a nightmare scenario opening night. Match over before it started now we have 5 holes of no one cares golf. If this was more competitive it could be entertaining but they are gonna have to even the teams out I guess. And I think the team winning a hole should have to take take a shot to make it more entertaining
I'm surprised it kept me interested. I won't arrange my Tuesday nights around it, but I'll probably watch some on a regular basis.

This will be something I record and fast forward watch. Got a little slow in parts. They really need to lean in on fans being loud and crazy like a regular sporting event. That would make it interesting for me.

Agreed. Bring in Phil and turn this into a typical practice round game with players betting hundreds of thousands of their own money on each hole. Failure to agree to the bets and you are removed from the game.
I couldn't get through 45 minutes of it. Was so boring to me. They'll get the ratings pop from opening night + next week with Tiger, so that's smart to stagger it like that. But that collective group of guys last night couldn't have been more boring. They need swagger. If it's going to be a 'who cares' thing, fine but then I won't care either.
Will continue to give it a go for a few more weeks to see if they can improve some of the feel of it all.
