That's what I want to see. Come up with some crazy hole designs.

The lava hole was amazing. It would be cooler if they could add a heater next to the player if they barely clear the lava.

I thought this was pretty good. Better than I expected. I like the mics, the shot clock, and the changing green.

I much rather watch this than some rando journeymen shooting -28 at the Cincinnati Oscar Meyer Open.

Plus it was a really smart move to get this going now when we're in kind of a dead space for sports. No football throughout the week, no baseball yet, and before March Madness.

Great to have on a Tuesday night with no other options. I'll continue to watch.

I related a lot to what Tiger said when he was on during the broadcast that although this is different and outside the box it's still golf and they're still hitting golf shots and he's right. I found myself having the same reactions to good iron shots, chip ins, long putts dropping, etc as I do when watching golf on TV.

The biggest issue was that it was half serious, half a joke. It's got to get sillier or more serious. It didn't help that it was a blowout.

I think they need to add a gambling aspect to it. If they had real-time prop bets through some kind of companion app, that would be cool. Doesn't even necessarily be for money. They could do a prop where the best "gambler" wins a trip for 4 to the sim to play a round or something.

I'm imagining real-time odds popping up on the side screens for the players to look at. "Shane Lowery vs. Ricky Fowler" and Shane is posting -250 or something might get Ricky fired up. Or prop bets. Clark has a shot from 120 and you get +500 to bet him to hit it within 5 feet, +200 within 15 feet. Stuff like that.

I wonder if it will rate higher than holey moley. I watched and was slightly bored but will watch next week to see if it grows on me.

This also proves these guys take way too long to hit shots in real life

Can you imagine Spieth playing in this with a shot clock lol
Or Sergio

I just finished watching the whole thing. A few thoughts

  • Love the pace. The shot clock and all that. It was really shot after shot.
  • The broadcast booth (minus time with Tiger and Rory) was bad. They need to talk less and let us hear the players more.
  • Want to see the hole layout more and have that up on the screen so we can see the line they are taking. Or hear the players talk about their plan with each.
  • On the note of hole design: go insane with them! It can essentially be Golden Tee. There are truly no limitations. Have one fan submitted hole design per match. And why on the final hole did the short cut center line "aggressive" route have a 60 yard wide fairway??
  • Not sure we need 15 holes. Maybe 6 alt shot and 6 singles.
  • More wild cards like the hammer. Hell let them call "wolf" or something and play 3 on 1 or take a club out of opponents bag
  • Why is DJ Khaled constantly shoved down the throats of golf fans? No one wants that.

Overall... not bad. With a little less fake pump up and hyping how big the screen is, let the players take it a little more seriously and get competitive with it. If its less serious and they don't care, why should a viewer?

DJ Khaled gets screen time because he caters to the young Gen Z demographic. Also wouldn't surprise me if he is involved financially somehow.

His appearance on TV last night was cringe inducing. I honestly thought he may be high or drunk or a combo. He sounded like an absolute moron.

As a Gen Xer myself, you may need to check your chart. We're entering our 50s now. We haven't qualified as young for at least a decade, maybe 2. Don't think DJ Khalid moves the needle too much with my generation.

I loved it. I wished they would turn off the music but I get they're trying to get some atmosphere at the event itself. Please don't do a bunch of celebrity interviews. It ruined the Manningcast and will do the same to this. I really don't care what some celebrity thinks about golf or football. I want to see the experts talk shop not some random celebrity questions.

Yeah I think he's more my generation (millennial) and even then, I'm not sure he moves the needle much for us either. Marty looked like he absolutely hated doing that interview which I though was funny.

"You need two bags when you play golf. A golf bag and a brown paper bag." -- My buddy and I were like WTH when he said that.

Yeah and that was just one example in the 5 mins he was on.

He spoke in broken sentences, couldn't finish one thought, and just kind of spewed random nonsense.

Wife and I had the exact same thoughts as we were watching.
