Very entertaining back 9. Good for Scottie. Always moving to see these guys get emotional on the medal podium.

So- I saw a side view cut on one of the late night sports shows last night, where a TV producer standing in the front of the podium kept signaling to Scottie to look forward at the cameras. He ignored him, and kept staring rigidly at the Stars and Stripes, hand over heart, mouthing the words and eventually lost it and wept openly.

Made me proud and gave me a little hope for the next generations. Well done Scottie, well ****ing done!!!!

Rahm has been making simple mistakes on the back 9 on the last day of just about each of the LIV tournaments. He gets top 10s but could have more than 1 win. Not surprising that he gagged on the back 9 yesterday.

Olympic golf should borrow some LIV and gymnastics process. First 3 rounds it's a combination of team and individual scoring like LIV. Take the top 3 of each country for the first 3 rounds. Best team scores at that time win team medals. Then the 4th round is purely individual with the top 20 with the individual scores carrying over.

I like that idea, but the varying number of athletes per country who qualify would make it difficult and more advantageous to countries who qualified more players.

My personal preference would be to decide the medals with match play. 36 or 54 holes of stroke play with top 4 advancing to the match play medal rounds. Win both matches get the gold, loss both off the podium. Would make for some really compelling individual golf we really don't get to see in the pro ranks.

Countries with 3 or 4 players qualify for the team title. If a country only has 1 or 2 players, they play only for the individual titles. Countries are limited to max of 4 players. Take the best 3 scores from each country each round and determine country medalists after the 3rd round. Then take the top 20 individual scores after the 3rd round and then have them play the fourth round, keeping each of their previous 3 round scores.

One of the issues with the current format is that a guy can be out of it after the first round and has nothing to play for. There is no money or points that go with finishing 15th. But if a guy has a bad round 1, he still can contribute to his country winning a medal by having a good 2nd or 3rd round.

I think we're more likely to get a mixed team event with the women. Would bring more countries into the mix, too.

Start the week by having a two person male/female team play a low ball qualifying round (max two teams per country). Top 10 teams make the final.

Have both men and women play 54 holes for individual medals, same course at same time (euro tour is already doing this).

End the week with the team low ball final round.

If Olympics wants to make golf bigger they should definitely adopt a team event in addition to individual. I love how the NCAA championship is done. 4 individual rounds and then team match play after that based on individual performance.

You could have a pre-determined field of top 12-14 countries that have most players in the top 200. This year there were like 14 countries that had at least 4 (if not all 5) players in the top 200. Then have the next best top 25 players that aren't in qualifying countries (this year would have been like Hovland and Straka). This field would be 80-100 players.

Play 3-4 rounds to determine individual champion then match play with teams and seedlings based by individual performance.

Outside the Ryder cup, golf is missing a big team even or anything that has country pride to it. This could also make golf in the Olympics more meaningful.

That's why Ryder Cup is a big deal, it's the only professional team golf that matters. Add more stuff, it gets watered down.

There's 5 chances for medals in freaking ping-pong.

Men's individual
Woman's individual
Mixed doubles
Women's doubles
Men's doubles.

Archery the same.

Fencing has more, crew similar, triathlon even has mixed teams in addition to individuals.

2 medal opportunities for golf.
