Possibly relocating to the area and interested in joining. Any idea on initiation cost and monthly dues? Is it a good course to be a member at? Do they run any deals on memberships at certain times of the year?

Last I heard ( 6 mos ago) initiation had gone up o $20k and dues around $650/mo. 27 holes. I've never played it but heard its usually in nice shape. They were known for very good greens even back when they were public.

I'm a member down the road at Lake Windcrest. I want to say initiation there is now $5k (was $3k when i joined) and dues around $450/mo. Course is in fantastic shape right now since we've had plenty of rain this summer. They usually keep it pretty nice regardless.

I was curious, haven't played there in years. Found a flier online that says, Entry Fee $4k, Single Membership $600/Month, Family Membership $800/Month, Junior Membership $475/Month, cart fees not included.

I think that's from 2020. The initiation has gone up significantly since then.

You're correct, just noticed that on the flier that I found online. It's amazing that the initiation is that high now. Back in the day the greens were fantastic.

We are looking at the Woodforest community so the convenience of it being right there is nice but the pricing for Windcrest is much more attractive. Any Pros/Cons to either? Looks like it's an extra 15 min drive.

I have no experience with Woodforest as a player or guest so nothing to compare it to. I would call Windcrest and see what the initiation is now just to confirm but a 15 minute drive down 1488 might be worth saving $15k. Visit both and meet with the membership director at each. If you want to play a round at Windcrest let me know and I'd be happy to host you.

As of a couple months ago, Woodforest is:

$20k initiation
$800/month Individual
$1000/month family

They are on a wait list with a $2,500 deposit.

I live right next to Woodforest and have been back and forth over the last year between Windcrest, Lake Walden, and Grand Lake Estates.

Walden is just too far, even though I love the course.

Grand Lake Estates is a great layout, but zero amenities. Not even a range or putting green. That would be trying to get in on the ground floor because Troon took over management last year and I'm hoping they put some money into it.

Windcrest is really convenient and a nice place. The layout is just my third choice. I need to get over it and join there.

Let me know if you're ever looking for someone to get out with.

Windcrest is the lowest tier of The Woodlands group.

It gets heavy play including a lot of HS players playing and practicing. Doesn't have a private club vibe at all. Woodforest is in great shape and has much lower traffic, but has a ridiculous buy in for the lack of amenities.

I didn't realize that Lake Windcrest is in the Invited Clubs group. If the Original Poster joins and pays the extra monthly fee, he can play April Sound as well. Sounds like a no brainer. Too bad The Woodlands Clubs are not included.

The $20k is not a deal breaker for me. The most important thing to me is pace of play and time away from home since I'll have two little ones. Just trying to see if the $15k delta in initiation and double the amount monthly dues is justified.

Windcrest is not part of the Woodlands clubs anymore. It's still in the invited network. I have no problem getting tee times.

I played a couple weeks ago as a guest on a Friday morning and it was packed. Pace was slow.
