Played 18 today and have 36 tomorrow. Really enjoyed the course. Fairways are in great shape and the zoisia grass is a nice change from bermuda. Greens are hard as a rock and slick. Our caddie is a former tour caddie so had a nice experience and will get him again tomorrow. Ask for James Blaze if you dont want a newbie.

Good advice - the caddies we had recently were not as experienced as the ones that were there in February when we went. They were nice, but just need more rounds/development/etc.

Is the course walking only or do they have carts?

Walking only unless you have a medical condition.

My caddies said they will have carts only 2 months of the year outside of medical issues.

I understand the purist approach to walking only, but this is not Oregon or Wisconsin or Colorado even....walking only in May-September is a recipe for disaster.

Our caddies actually told us they had a couple people pass out either the 1st or 2nd day they were open for public play. They should have seen that coming.

Your post made me crack up. Not great having folks falling out but the visual of a 60-some year old huffing and puffing around the track in 95-degree Texas heat before dropping made me laugh. Yes, they should have expected that.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

Is Streamsong walking only?

That's the closest example that I can think of for destination/resort golf in this category with a similar climate.

Walking just isn't a safe option for much of their target demographic for 1/3 of the year in Texas.

I got a feeling that they have a plan for the summer while not being that busy... they do shut down sand valley during the winter so they are familiar with slow/closed months.

Wanna play Sand Valley in mid-January but its closed? Come to lovely east Texas!

I'm in my 30s and played at 10:30 in September and those last 5 holes I don't even remember. I was so tired.

It's actually a tougher walk than I would've expected. They'll need to figure something out. Texas weather is pretty miserable for about five months out of the year, not just two.

I GREATLY prefer walking but it'll be pretty brutal for most of their clientele for a huge chunk of the year.

There are probably things they can do to get clever about how to beat the heat.

The PGA Frisco Championship course (Fields Ranch East) was originally walking only but they now allow carts in the afternoon during summer play. They had some heat related incidents so they pivoted…I expect the same at Wild Spring Dunes.

As someone said above it was a tougher walk than I expected.

Difference between walking with a Caddie carrying your bag versus you carrying. And definitely difference between 85 and 95 and humid.

But If you can't walk that course with a Caddie carrying your bag in 85 degree weather or less, then no offense, but you may be way out of shape. We played it few weeks ago with caddies and it was close to 86 I think and yes i was tired at end but still got through it. I'm early 50's and 25 lbs over weight.

Lots of days where it's a lot hotter than 86 and a lot of people out there more than 25 lbs overweight.

I don't think so. Didn't see any and the caddies we used said someone brought their own and it was a "**** show". I guess because they couldn't make money on them? Or the course isn't really set for it idk
