Crown Colony (Lufkin) is shutting down next Monday to completely renovate their greens and fairway bunkering. Greens are nearly 45 years old with a minor resurfacing project in 2010. Expecting to reopen late Fall.

If anyone has interest in a non-resident (or regular) membership, I'd love to have your contact information. The membership programs are being re-evaluated now, but we should have more information in the coming months.

Final Tif-Eagle sprigs are going in tomorrow.

We have discounted memberships if you live outside of Angelina County. There are villas on property with discounted rates for members.

The contractor is the same one that built Whispering Pines. Crown is going to look incredible when it reopens later this year.

Good to hear they're putting some $$ back into that course. It used to be really badass. Played it quite a bit back 15+ years ago

I use to get to Lufkin a lot, but that has changed. Played there as a guest quite a bit. The course definitely started to decline somewhat and I knew it needed renovating. My logical assumption was that money, or lack there of, was the issue.

With so many industries (Lufkin, Temple-Inland, the paper mill) closing or being bought out and the high paying jobs moving elsewhere; I imagine the membership took a hit.

Shame…….but good luck to you and the club. Hope all goes well.

It wasn't just money. The course was just overdue for a redo after ~45 years. Original drainage, irrigation, soil conditions, etc.

National memberships are not expensive and includes discount rates for on property villas.

Article on the restoration of the course.
