Smylie Kaufman making the run to 16 with the rest of the idiots had me cracking up.

Masters aside I don't watch more coverage of any tournament than the Wasted Open. I ****in love it

Me too and that's what's great I love the party in Phoenix and the tradition of the Masters. Room for both in golf.
All alcohol sales suspended at the WM Phoenix Open. Couldn't possibly think why...

A Waste Management bro commented on the alcohol suspension saying “Trying to watch golf without alcohol is like trying to work without Zyns or adderall. It’s impossible.” pic.twitter.com/kSkaddAF8B

I'm guessing 80% of the folks in attendance can't name a golfer playing the tourney.

When you play it up like golf's version of Mardi Gras, it's only a matter of time till you get Mardi Gras behavior.
I think the weather played a big role this year as well. Thursday and Friday were wash outs so you had everyone try and blow it out Saturday.
Except NOPD and LA State PD don't **** around...JCA1 said:

the drunk sliding down the hill wasn't the problem yesterday. That wasn't even a blip on the radar on some of the things happening.AgLA06 said:
Why is it that the PGAT wants to be mainstream just like the other big sports, but is the only sport that can't seem to have a good time?
Every other sport has huge festivities long before the even with alcohol sales and are much more aligned with high intensity, over the top people that are much conducive to a riot. Yet, there's rarely issues. And when there is, it's handled, people laugh, and everyone moves on.
Some drunks slide down a wet hill outside the area of play and we've crosses some make believe line of decorum. And they wonder why the vast majority of sports fans don't bother to watch.

Most sporting events take place in a confined area with enough security in place for crowd control. Golf takes place in a 200 acre area where competitors and the crowd walk a fine line separation. Unlike other sports, golf kinda demands crowd silence before and during a swing. Unfortunately WMO lost control over the crowd as many attendants were let in without even being scanned. My understanding is it was the PD and FD that halted the alcohol sale.

I lived in NOLA for 3 years. NOPD don't do anything to police Mardi Gras. You gotta stab someone to get arrested in that town.
Yes, it's truly amazing that an MLB batter can hit a 100mph pitch cutting away with 25K fans standing and cheering or or a basketball player can hit a free-throw with opposing fans doing everything imaginable to distract them when the game is on the line, but a pro golfer can't hit a stationary ball on a tee without complete silence on hole #3.AggieDruggist89 said:

Look, if you want to wear sweaters tied over the shoulder and pretend a PGAT tournament is high tea at the country club, fine. But the pretentiousness is why golf will continue to lag behind other sports.
Except this is just an untrue excuse. Youth sports are where this matters and that's not the case today with uniforms and little league / travel costs.JCA1 said:
Golf lags behind because it's an expensive sport that most can't access on a regular basis. Not sure there's much that can be done about that.

I don't need an excuse to say I suck or hit a bad shot. That's going to happen as a 15+ handicap with young kids and no club membership. I also don't need to pretend that throwing on slacks and playing golf somehow boosts my ego or esteem.AggieDruggist89 said:AgLA06 said:Yes, it's truly amazing that an MLB batter can hit a 100mph pitch cutting away with 25K fans standing and cheering or or a basketball player can hit a free-throw with opposing fans doing everything imaginable to distract them when the game is on the line, but a pro golfer can't hit a stationary ball on a tee without complete silence on hole #3.AggieDruggist89 said:

Couldn't careless golf lags other sports as I'm not a fan of golf as a spectator. But I'm a participant of the game and will continue as long as I can unlike other sports sans pickle ball... And not a fan of it either. I'm sure you love your 4 some cheering you on as you set up for your next shot playing golf.
