Take it easy. It's his opinion.
Agreed. Many of us may not agree with him but he is entitled to his opinion and it isn't like he is trolling or being disrespectful in the discussion.

The problem with society today is people call someone who disagrees with them stupid, ignorant, corrupt, etc rather than have an open dialogue. And we want to know why we are so divided as a country….

I think the USGA and R&A, along with NIL & the NCAA, have done enough to modernize current Amatuer status. My understanding is Dunlap can accept sponsor funding and anything a bama booster or collective wants to send his way. He can also monetize himself on social media for the most part.

The USGA has to have some guard rails though to preserve the competition and sanctity of their numerous Amatuer championships. If Dunlap wants to defend his US amateur title or play in another Walker Cup then he has to maintain that amatuer status. Not sure why he would, but golfers are an odd bunch.

Allowing him to decide to take the money, the points, the trophy, and go pro when winning a PGA tournament wouldn't change that. Hell, I would have thought they'd want a tour winner on the tour.

It sounds like it is a given he is turning pro this year. The question is which tour and does he play college golf this spring and go pro after the college season is done. My thought is he will declare he is turning pro tomorrow so he can win money this week, if he makes the cut.

Turn pro now. Any guy on that Bama team should want him to go now. He'll be in all the signature events, Masters, US Open, Players, and PGA. Exempt until 2026. There are guys grinding for years who haven't been where this guy is after one eventful week. Losing AM status will keep him out of the The Open but that's replaced by the PGA with this win. Just do it.

Turn pro now, continue working towards that finance degree that he was working on. Maybe take 1-2 classes at a time and finish in the next 6 years or so. It's good to have a stacked schedule with a little learning packed in.

He is getting a rude welcome to golf as a professional. He is DFL thru 15. At least us chanted a $32,000 check this week. Not a bad way to go. Play Pebble Beach AND get paid $32k vs forking over almost $32k to play it for a week.

I think most of us would take getting our head kicked in at PB and Spyglass for $32k.

I would imagine it will take a little bit of time for his mind to settle down so he can really focus on golf. Lots of change.
