Texas A&M women's golf returns to action on Monday as the Aggies travel to Johns Creek, Georgia to compete in the East Lake Cup. With his third season underway in Aggieland, head coach Gerrod Chadwell joined TexAgs Radio to discuss his 2023-24 squad and more.

Key notes from Gerrod Chadwell interview

  • The last time I was in here, it was before or after Pebble Beach. We played there on Labor Day, then the Annika Intercollegiate. Then, we played in the Stephens Cup. We had a couple of weeks of break, and now, we play our last event, the East Lake Cup. It is the four semifinalists from last year's national championship. Two young ladies are also competing at the World Amateur right now: Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Adela Cernousek.

  • Jennie Park secured her professional status. You have young ladies accomplishing a lot of things outside of the season.

  • We won't have anybody on the road who hasn't played in a collegiate event. Just not as familiar faces. We play on a round of stroke play on Monday at East Lake, then go into match play on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be a good experience.

  • Adela Cernousek has been one of the best players in college golf. She can handle adversity, and she is a great leader. She tirelessly works at it. She will be playing great golf beyond here.

  • We haven't put together a good week. If there is a time to do that, I would rather it be in the fall and not the spring. It's a long year. We are getting younger players reps. We start fast in the spring.

  • Our schedule is the third toughest schedule in the country. You are doing that without some of your best players in the fall. We are trying to get a pulse on what its going on.

  • We lose three out of arguably our top five next year. We will reload. We will have faces that will be ready. We have some people who are hungry.

  • We get downtime around the holidays, but we are already evaluating the 2026 class. That’s our sport.
