I have played Ben Hogan blades since I was in high school. Currently playing a 1999 set of Apexes that is getting a little worn out and beat up looking. Since Hogan has gone out of business (again), I'll need to switch to something else. What are you playing and what are the good and bad points?

I played Titleist 620's for 2 decades but recently switched to PXG 211's because I am fat and old and needed a little help in the forgiveness department.

I "probably" need some sort of middling or game improvement iron at this point of my life, but I can't stand to see fat top lines and huge offsets so playing a blade, or muscle back is simply aesthetic for me at this point. I had a neck surgery in May that made a 12 month layoff necessary so when i come back to golf next year I may have little choice and have to go to a GI or cavity back iron.

My clubs are old…+/- 1996. I don't play enough anymore to justify a newer set.

Miura MBs

MP-18 combo with blades at the lower end. Can't beat the feel.

I still have my Ping Eye 2 set from the 80's. Still have the original shafts but lost count on how many grips I have gone though. I need to get something more forgiving as I am getting to be an old man.

Just switched from 2014 Mizuno cavity backs to 2003 Mizuno MP 33's. I'm not sure what advantages a newer blade has to offer but these feel like a true extension of my arm. At their price point I'm thinking about getting a 2nd set...

I've got the same, except mine are the MP-18 SC, 5-Pw. So I guess, not technically blades.

I play titleist 695mb since 2008!


I don't hit at the range so the faces are pretty good still.

I had some Titleist blades I played in the early 2000's. I loved those things, and regret selling them. Unfortunately, I don't remember what model they were. I'd like to have them again but reshafted to fit my swing.

The 695s are only titleist I like . I bought them bc of a golf store sale while traveling in st Louis. 400 dollars new!


When they fail I'll go to Calloway blades. I hope to never have to hit improvement irons. I plan on dying with eccos on my feet and blades in my hands.

MP32's from early to mid 2000s if I remember right

I did a little research this morning and I think I was playing the Tour Model irons. Which looks like they are from 1991. I bought them used at Play it Again Sports when I was in school. So they were already 9-10 years old when I bought them.

I've got a set of 1985 Tour Models in the garage. Bought them in the late 90s for about $120 on eBay. Practicing a lot with them for a few years really improved my swing.

I bought some Mizuno MP33 in Jan and played them for about 4 months for the same reason.

Benched them for some T100, but I'm going to hang onto them.

I have NewLevel Golf forged CBs.

Their blades are nice I'm just not good enough to play them.

I've always played blades. Have some Hogan Apex II from the late 80s (?) in the garage. Titleist 690mb was my fave. Still have Srixon Z965 which are also great.

Based on the condition of those clubs it doesn't look like you played much anyway!

Mizuno MP 20 Combo- 4-7 MCC and blades 8-PW.
As I've gotten older my 2 handicap has transformed into a 7. Recently reshafted these clubs with Recoil shafts.

Taylormade P7MC for me. I'm a good enough ball striker to play traditional blades, but the little bit of forgiveness really goes a long way. These have a thin enough top line and minimal offset to where it looks good at address but doesn't completely rob you on a slight mis hit, although you're well aware when you hit it flush or not.

Like I said…they wear club head covers.

I was told these are and are not blades.
