Probably my bias talking, but I'm not a fan of the stance of Sarge on those.

That being said, at least some company is trying to do what should've been done for Aggie golfers a long time ago.

Photographic evidence suggests otherwise.

Imperial simply makes the best* golf hat on the market.

Agreed. That pigeon toed follow through has stopped me from ordering a hat.

Nearly all hats the Aggie golfers wear are made by Richardson.

This is one and the white version they started wearing. I believe its a Richardson 212.

I'm not sure about the 212, but I do know it's a Richardson. I have no idea if it's available to the public or not. So, who's going to figure out if they are available? I'm not sure if anyone but an Aggie golf fan would realize it's an Aggie hat. I think it's a really cool looking hat though. Do any other Aggie sports teams have these hats too ?

I have a maroon 212 that looks just like it (of course without the block T), plus I watched a YouTube video where he is golfing and it says Richardson on the back.

In. I'm a big Peter Millar fan. Also it's sad how Imperial has many UT styled hats but none really for A&M.

go to traditions and buy some gear in the pro shop. That is about as close as you can get without the donation hassle crap as above.

Traditions doesn't sell Texas A&M Golf gear. Because they're a separate entity from Texas A&M, they don't have the marketing rights. They can only sell gear with the Traditions logo. This is where others schools market their golf teams much better than A&M does.

What would stop Traditions from stocking these Aggie Golf team items in the same way they stock anything else they sell? Whether they agree to a profit share, buy from the team then sell to patrons, who cares? Just because it's a different entity doesn't seem to matter?

Further, it's been said, but why isn't this stuff simply available to those who want to purchase? You can quite literally setup an instagram store in 20 minutes. If they're not interested in figuring out a way to market their golf specific apparel, which there's clearly a lot of interest in, they're only hurting themselves?

This is the lowest hanging fruit I've ever seen and appears to be due to willful ignorance?

The perennial top golf programs in the country market themselves in a big way. They have figured out a way to overcome the licensing obstacles. See the previous references to Texas and Oklahoma State as examples. We can't seem to figure it out.

They aren't. I actually had this conversation in the pro shop recently. Just because Traditions Club can't print any university owned logos (except the very specific one that says traditions club on it) on apparel they sell for themselves, this doesn't also mean the golf team's apparel with their university licensed logos cannot be sold in that pro shop or any other for that matter if permission was given to them/a deal is made. In other words, it's the team's mark, they have to initiate/negotiate with Traditions.

Further, and completely separate, the traditions club situation is irrelevant if they'd simply sell directly themselves through any of the myriad options available to them. Shopify, instagram, you name it. They're not just leaving thousands on the table, they're doing so while completely disregarding any and all brand building and promotion. From every angle possible, it's a complete fail.

The folks in the Trad pro shop have their hands tied so to speak, so who needs to see this? BK? Bjork?

BK is a golf coach, not a marketer. The marketing folks in the athletic department are focused on football. This simply isn't a priority.

It's putting an existing logo and existing script on a hat! We aren't asking for anything excessive haha if I was given the files I could literally have a store up ready to take orders within an hour or two.

I had some Richardson 112 hats made from CC creations awhile back and asked them about putting the A&M logo on a hat and they said as long as they get permission from licensing that it was possible.

It comes down to licensing and if they can make money from it, and knowing us Aggie fans we always want cool gear.

Do we have good photos of what we'd like? I can only picture the script Aggie hat the team has worn in the past that's exclusive, or was exclusive to them, before it started getting used pretty frequently in other sports very recently.

If it's put in front of the right folks I think it could get green lit relatively easily, but would like examples if they're out there. Thanks in advance.

Yea at about 20:15 … it's a BK issue. He's thinking in terms of booster club when he should be brand building while accomplishing the exact same if not more by opening that mark up thoughtfully. He'd still control it. It's simply old school likely uninformed thinking.

ETA: it's hard to say without seeing the rev they bring in with that booster club thing, but that money isn't coming in for a cool hat, it's coming in from people who want to support regardless. Swinging sarge and script sarge on Adidas (or insert brand here) golf apparel would bring in a significant sum of revenue. 50k+ (I know current students who just sold hats with a T on them because everything on the market was ugly that weren't far off from that when the university told them to stop. That took like 6 months).

I just dont understand how THEY (A&M Marketing team) doesn't see that they could make a dollar for this stuff.
Specifics about the Ol Sarge golf gear is mentioned by Bjork, he wants us to join the AGA.
A poll needs to be run to see who would be interested in hats and gear mentioned already on here.

Like come on who would buy a hat like this or in a dad hat.
