I'm sponsoring a Par 3 hole for a corporate scramble in Chicago next week and, in addition to Closest To The Pin, would like to do something fun for each group as they play through. I've played in many of these silly scrambles but never just sat at the tent before. Actually looking forward to it because of the networking and I want to make it memorable.

Probably the obvious idea is for me to challenge each group at closest to pin and have a prize for each individual winner. Maybe rent shot tracer set-up and record each individuals shot, then email it to them.

Any other ideas? I normally feel sorry for the schmucks that get stuck with tent duty but my situation is a little different. I have a vested interest in making it fun/unique.

What is your business?

I ask because I've seen construction firms have a nail hammering challenge (if you completely hammer the nail in one swing of the hammer, you win a gift) or a drink mixer brand offer good sized take home bottles to players that sink a cornhole bag or a washer, sort of a party environment.

It's primarily construction and commercial HVAC related. I have a personal/professional interest in recycling most of what each of these vendors are selling. Not much help because the variety of products/ services vary widely.

Set up a wet bar, so they all can get a mixed drink or beer. Hand out hats and free koozes, t-shirts, good balls with your logo on them, hole in 1 wins a John Deere Gator with your logo on it, have a local pro hit shots to see if they can bet the pro? For a prize. Once they get on the green you can putt for them and then they continue from there? Lots of things you can do to maximize networking time.

You mentioned recycling, if that is your gig, maybe spin off the cornhole idea and have folks try to toss something into a recycling bin. Or, on the hvac side, have them toss into a duct or register. Make the shot, get a logo yeti cup or something. Miss the shot, get a koozie or hat.

Increase the difficulty my making them chip a practice golf ball into the recycle bin.

If the tournament is fun in nature, create a funky putter that they must use on that hole. We used to play in a tournament and they would have brick putters on one hole. Actual bricks attached to the putter handle. Everyone must use it on the hole.

Or cutt the putter in half and make them use a short putter.

Shot tracer would be sweet. You'd also get their contact info.

No real addition to the thread ideas but just because I like to tell stories: I played a tourney in Lakeland, FL when I lived there - Bart Bryant (RIP) and Andy Bean hit a tee shot with every group on holes 7 and 10. Every group used the pro shot. I think they had 4-5 HIO. Those guys were amazing.

At another tourney, they had a long drive pro hitting tee shots on a par 5. We had a dude that was recruited to play baseball at FSU, got injured and spent his four years building a golf swing. Little to no short game at all and carried a +3. Anyway, the long drive guy hits first with like a 5 degree, extra long driver. Our guy bests him with his own driver, asks to borrow the long drive one and then beats him with his own club. Dude was steaming. It was kinda funny.

Tee up some jumbo marshmallows on a long toothpick or skewer. Have a longest drive competition on the par 3 with them. Winner of each group gets a sleeve of balls, and grand prize awarded to longest of the day. Was the most fun I've had at a tournament.
