How long do you want to ignore this user?
Final Post:

Congratulations to Joseph G, Tyler B, and Jacob B for finishing 1, 2, and 3 in this year's Grint Tourney.

Fourth and fifth (M. Cole and Aaron J) were only eight and ten points out of third, respectively.

Sorry I didn't keep the thread as active as I did earlier in the year...life got in the way with kid stuff and chores around the house. Hope y'all enjoyed it and I'm happy to get a new one going next year.

Original Posts:
Howdy, Ags. I've got a daughter who's a huge fan of riding in the golf cart and putting, so I'm looking to get out on the course much more often in the Fall and Spring. We had an inaugural Grint Tournament a few years back, brought to you by Bagger05, and it seemed to do well enough. I was hoping someone would bring it back, and I've decided to fall on that grenade for everyone.

I'm in the process of creating The TexAgs '22-'23 Tour on the Grint and would like to welcome everyone to join in.

At present, I've got the first event with a due date of September 3, 2022 and running bi-weekly through the Fall, tri-weekly in the winter and early spring, and then culminating with a Championship ending Memorial Day 2023.

I'll use the next reply to give more information on calendar, scoring, rules, etc., but wanted to get this on the forum to, hopefully, drum up enough interest to get people involved.

Keep an eye on this thread in the next few weeks, but feel free to join the Tour in the meantime. If you have any questions, reply here and I'll get to them when I can.

Gig 'em.

Rules, Points System, Calendar, Etc. will go here.
RULES
Literally copying and pasting Last Tour's Rules. A few changes include: No groupings by handicap, we're all one grouping.

SUPREMACY OF THE SUPREME COMMISSIONER:
All rules and the tour schedule described below are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Supreme Commissioner bagger05 XpressAg09. Look, man, this is the first second time we're doing this so we will need to be flexible. Since sacks of crap are not allowed on the tour, I'm sure we will all be fine.

ELIGIBILITY:
Anyone is eligible to join the tour as long as they aren't sacks of crap. For the purpose of the tour, "sack of crap" will be defined as anyone who is found out to be sandbagging, cheating, being a total jerk, or generally acting in a way that demonstrates a lack of understanding that this is all for fun and not THAT serious.

Eligibility to join and continue in the tour will be at the sole discretion of the Supreme Commissioner bagger05 XpressAg09. Typical process for determining disciplinary action or resolution of disputes between members will be discussion on the TexAgs Golf Board where the Supreme Commissioner can hear the opinions of other tour members and onlookers to aid his decision on whether anyone is being an ass.

There is no cutoff time for signing up for the tour. The more the merrier and inviting your friends is encouraged.

HANDICAPS AND HANDICAP CATEGORIES:
Official WHS Handicaps are preferred. If you do not have an official handicap, the low end of your estimate from TheGrint minus one will be used. For each event, the handicap at the time of your round will be used.

The tour is not flighted. Each event awards points based on net score regardless of handicap. While this is clearly a disadvantage for players with lower handicaps, being good at golf should be its own reward so F the low handicappers.

PLAYING EVENT ROUNDS:
You must decide that you are playing an event round prior to teeing off. It's not allowed to play several rounds during the event period and choose your best one to post as your score. This is done on the honor system. Tour members found in violation of this rule will be subject to disciplinary action due to violating the sack of crap clause of the eligibility requirements.

Only 18-hole rounds on courses with a par 70 or higher are eligible for posting to the tour.

COMMITTEE RULES TO FACILITATE PACE OF PLAY:
To facilitate pace of play, the Supreme Commissioner is enacting local rules for drop procedures in place of stroke and distance for lost balls and ball out of bounds. A summary of this rule is that if a ball is lost or out of bounds, rather than returning to the tee you may drop under penalty of two strokes. The relief area is no closer to the hole, between the point where the ball was lost or out of bounds and the nearest fairway area. You may also drop within two club lengths of this relief area (which means you are allowed to drop in the fairway). Details on how to apply this rule are here:
Link Link

Since we are playing handicapped and these are recreational rounds, you are allowed to pick up after reaching net double bogey if you have an established handicap. If you don't, max score is par +5.
Link Link

If you are playing match play or best ball, you are not required to hole out and can record your most likely score as the rules allow for these formats.

When in doubt, just use full stroke play rules but PLEASE don't be that guy holding everyone up on the course because you're posting an official round for the TexAgs Tour.

FAQ and Answers will go here.

How to Join
I recall that we had to befriend Bagger05 on the Grint in order to be admitted to the Tour, as there's no way for me to 'open' it to the public. This link should get you to my Grint Page (Bryan McAnally, or Bryan09) and you can add me there. I'll assume all my new friends are Ags and will get you in the Tour.

Timing of the Events
Events can be scored anytime, but it's recommended and suggested that you wait until the week or two before the due date. Every event, except for Specials are spaced out at least two weeks, since some of us can't get away from the wives every week...

How to Select and Score Rounds
You have to determine, pre-tee off that you're committing this round to the Tour Event. It's not cool if you triple bogey the first three holes and decide to cancel that round and try again next week. That would qualify you as a 'sack of crap,' per Bagger's rules.

Step 1: Edit the Round before you tee off on one

Step 2: Click Tour Events

Step 3: Pick the Event you're scoring for. (Remember, Championships will have a "Round 1" or "Round 2" option.

Handicapped, I'm guessing?

Do we have to have a GHIN/WHS?
XpressAg09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Definitely handicapped and everything runs off The Grint (golf app). If you don't have it, you'll need it, but it creates a handicap for you and if you have the premium version (maybe $25 a year?) then the handicap is made official in the GHIN system, or equivalent.

Thanks for setting it up! Looking forward to it.

Am I missing something on how to actually join the tour though? I can open it up and see the list of events, but doesnt appear to be an obvious way to join it

I'd love to do it again, but it's impossible to play golf from November to early April up here, so I wouldn't fair very well.

Not to mention, I've only played 4 times in the last year since moving.

See the Rules post. Play where you want, Grint calculates your course handicap and applies appropriately. You can play wherever you are that day.

Great question, will add it to the FAQ with images of how to select the Tour.

Each event has a deadline, and please note that Championships will require two 18 hole rounds to qualify for points. You can play anytime between now and 9.3.2022 for the "Dust Off The Sticks Open" and technically play whenever you want for the other events, so long as you score the round before the deadline.

However, it's more fun, and in the spirit of the game, to play around the same time as everyone else, which is why I spaced out the events.

I'm on vacation this weekend, so the weekend bump is coming a day early.

Tell your friends, just about a month away til the deadline for Event 1.

Weekend bump.

Less than a month away and some folks have already turned in scores for the first Open. Totally legal and this is your reminder that rounds are due 9.3.2022.

I got the app, sent request to several that were mutual friends of Bryan 09. So if you got a friend request in the last hour or so, it was probably me.

Trying to enter some total scores from prior rounds, and it appears it is counting rounds from my little goat track as 9 hole rounds. Got 1 deleted, but the other one gives me a delete error and won't delete it.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are now friends and when I get home I'll get you your tour card.

TexAgs Tour does not recognize LIV, so you can't play in both. Choose wisely.

Hey I added you as a friend on grint, but was unable to find the tour event. It shows there are no tours available when I try to start a round.
XpressAg09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Fixed. I got too popular with all my new friends and left you out of the most recent wave of Tour invites. Try again and lemme know if you still don't see it.
