Two questions.

1. How much would you pay to play Augusta if that was an option? (I think I could scrape together $10,000 for a round.)

2. You are given the chance to play Augusta, however, you have this dilemma. The round is free if you can make one birdie, playing from the tips, as it is set up for the pros. If you fail to make a birdie you spend one year in jail. (I think I would have to sit that one out.)
Last year, my son-in-law, along with other CBS execs and sponsors were allowed to play the course on the Monday after the final round. Jim Nance even stayed over to announce the players. I wonder what he could have sold his place for on the open market?

I was stationed at Bragg and lived in Southern Pines/Pinehurst.

I can't wait to get stationed there again.

Pinehurst #2 is…..a slice of Heaven.

Ben Love is deceased as well. Played with him years ago at Galveston Country Club. Long story short it was a Friday afternoon and he showed up with his grandson and did not have a tee time. Pro paired them with me and a buddy of mine. Most gentlemanly and gracious man you could ever have met.

If they are their not going to tell you... Thats how you become a non member really fast.

I have heard crazy stories about Augusta...

They have a suggestion box for the members.

Say you are tired of walking all the way around the creek, and suggest that they should build a new bridge on the right side of he course. Nobody can see it, but would make life so much better.

The Augusta Board will review the request, if they like the idea they will build the bridge. Once the bridge is built the will send the member the bill for the entire thing. Yep, you pay for your own suggestion. Helps cut down on the number of suggestions... LOL

My thing would be I want to play it twice.

The first time, I want to just play it and be a tourist. Just play the course, don't really keep score, no pressure. Or play it like a practice round, Hit an extra ball from here, putt from there, etc....

Then, I want to play the course, 100% tournament play. 1 ball, no nothing, just play the course and write the score down.

This is the way..

It's not hard to figure out who's a member when the Augusta Chronicle publishes the tournament committee assignments.
Username checks out.

Yep. Although a lot of Rules Committee members aren't ANGC members.

I'll trade a round at Pine Valley or Merion East for a quick round at Augusta.

i played both, but not augusta. if youre a member of pine valley and merion Im super jealous.
I've played Augusta and PV. But not Merion.

I was a rain shower away from playing CP. That was my chance. Still pissed about that one.
played Cypress in 84. Was supposed to play again but my host broke his ankle playing softball the week before I got there. He comped my breakfast at Pebble instead.

Watched No Putts Given and they had Nick Faldo on. They kidded him about getting them an invite to play Augusta. He said he won The Masters three times and the only way he can play the course is as the guest of a member.

Wow

Yep. Same with any other winner who is not a member. I think Nicklaus is the only former champ who is a member. Palmer was a member too.

Once you qualify for the tournament are you allowed to play whenever you want? I see articles every year of players going out there early to get a look at it. Also, I remember Spieth saying he was going to take his Dad out there to play after he won.

Champions get to bring a guest the Sunday before the tournament.

I bet there's a process to get out there to play before the tournament if you're a qualified pro. Like you are allowed a round or two over the course of one visit or something like that.

If their are and if they happen to see this post I'd gladly reciprocate a round at TPC Bellville for a round at ANGC. I'll buy the beer also.
How could anyone turn that deal down? The best 9-hole sand trap in South Texas. I still have a couple of BellvilleTPC caps from the ten or so years I played in the big game with Barry, Phil, IBM, Jerry, etc.,

I know of one Aggie who is at ANGC not going to broadcast it because it would dox me. Our managing partner has played ANGC few times with him. Not a guy you would have ever of heard but he is also a member at Seminole as well.
