Way too many variables to give advice. Stance, lie, pin position, green conditions, slope, etc. There are sooo many variables to consider with touch shots.

My guess is that smith wanted a one hop and stop shot. These guys know exactly how hard to swing to produce a nearly exact yardage. One hop and stop is my favorite pitch shot. I know exactly what the ball will do spin wise, so it just becomes a game of yardage. Remove as many variables as you can.

Nerves of steel to stick that pitch on 18 to tap in.

Big Cam Smith fan, glad to see him win one of the more prestigious stops on tour. He seems like he would be a fun dude to hang out with on and off the course.

If anyone needs to know what sort of bloke Cam Smith is … he invited about 30 of us caddies over to his house Monday night this week for Pizza and Beers. Some great caddie stories were told. Some fun antics. What a legend!

I'd wager a good amount that Hovland makes the HoF one day. I think he will win multiple majors and be a problem for USA at the Ryder Cup.

To be fair, I wasn't knocking him. I see him as a guy that could be a mainstay for 20+ years and earn $100M. Just probably isn't the next Tiger or Phil.

You don't have to be nearly as good as those two to make the HOF in golf. He strikes me as a guy who might win 25 times or so. Not many people have ever done that. He's already won over $11MM in less than 3 years so $100MM might not cover it.

Speaking of hovland, He has virtually no accent which surprised me. Then I saw he lives in Stillwater, OK. That's intriguing and for someone who can live anywhere, why there ?!

Well, he went to school there. These guys travel so much I'd also have to take into consideration never having more than a 2 hour flight to get home from a domestic tournament.
