As you can probably guess, this is PGA Championship related. Buddy and I are going to the Saturday round. Plan is to head up on Friday morning, play somewhere along the way that afternoon. Will go to the tournament on Saturday, then head back on Sunday, playing somewhere along the way. Willing to go out of the way somewhat for a good course.

Obviously looked at Karsten Creek, but their website says unaccompanied guest rate is $500!!!!!

I'm sure those around the Tulsa Metro will be booked solid but I would try calling The Golf Club of Oklahoma or The Oaks Country Club just to see…

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. That's why we planned to play somewhere between DFW and there, to avoid the crowds.

DFW would probably be your best bet. OKC isn't too far from Tulsa so I'm guessing it'll be packed with folks staying there and driving up for the tournament….We got tickets for Wednesday's practice round and Sunday's last round…Enjoy your time in Tulsa. We moved up here a few months ago and have really enjoyed the area.

Thanks, but I live in DFW, so I play there all the time. I have found a couple of places that are possibilities, just looking for local knowledge on good courses.

We went to the 2001 US Open at Southern Hills (I'm an old) and we played Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on the way up from DFW. Fun course.

Good to know. I was looking at that one. It's across the lake from my family's lake cabin on Texoma, so I've heard of it before, but never played it.

Yes, I've played the Bridges a few times. I live in north Fort Worth, but I'm from Gainesville, so I know most of the good courses up that way.

Yeah, I've played Hurricane Creek too, although it's been a few years. I used to play in a monthly card game with a guy who was a member there.

ah ok, well that's been super popular lately. It's in good shape if you don't find anything else.

I'm making the same trip. I was told in Oklahoma to try Tulsa Country Club, Karsten Creek, Oak Tree National, Shangrila, or Dornick Hills.

Does anyone know if the Jimmie Austin course at OU is public? I have seen it on lists of public courses in Oklahoma, but I can't find anywhere that you can make a tee time.
