Anyone ever played and stayed here? Any tips for travel?

Looking at potentially going as a guys trip next spring.

There are many threads on the subject, I'd start by searching for those

The first playlist is mostly Bandon. Also, the Bandon Dunes website is pretty useful.

Bandon is an outstanding golf trip. Whether it's a great guys trip depends on if the guys on the trip actually love golf.

Some people's idea of a golf trip is going to Myrtle Beach, riding around in a cart getting wasted for a few days. Bandon is not going to be a great time for people who are expecting that.

I figure you probably have an idea of what it's like but one of my trips my buddy and I overheard a group at the restaurant *****ing about there not being carts and no nightlife. Kinda funny. Like these dudes booked it without even googling it.

If you love the kind of experience you get at Bandon (no frills links golf, walking, caddies, etc) there might not be a better trip. In a lot of ways it's a better trip than Scotland.

If I had six months to live I'd probably carve out a week for a Bandon trip.

The NLU podcast episodes about their trip to Bandon have lots of great info.

I have been there 4 times now and we just took 28 guys there two weeks ago. It is heaven on earth and will be glad to answer any questions you have.

It's fantastic. Best place in the US to go fro a guys golf trip. If you have more than just a foursome going, you better book now. We have 20 guys booked for fall of 2022.

Have done Bandon and Pebble. Would do Bandon again at Pebble prices.

Pebble is beautiful and a must do but Bandon is something else. Being in the middle of nowhere and with pure golf enthusiasts is awesome.

I literally just booked this trip two days ago for 4 of us in 2022. You'd better book right now if you're wanting to go next year. The absolute best thing you can do is call them and they'll walk you through all of it. They may be the nicest people I've ever talked to on the phone in my life. Have your credit card ready and if you need additional details, feel free to send me a message. I'm happy to share all of the info I got. Bottom line, though, book now if you want to go at all in 2022.

My round there a few weeks ago had a guy lay down in the fairway on number 11 at sheep ranch (volcano hole). Dude was drunk and couldn't finish his round.

He was passed out next to the fire pit at the club house when we got done with our round.

Bandon is truly incredible. I feel blessed to live so close and get to play it so often. My wife might have a different opinion of it though.

Just curious but how much are the green fees at Bandon? Are they ridiculous or are they somewhat reasonable?
dcrewint

Expensive but not Pebble expensive. Play at least two rounds per day. If you got the legs and sunlight the third in a day is free.

They're a bargain for what they are. I think $275 first round and $135 for a replay. You can play two top 5 courses in the country for $205/piece. These are summer rates. Cheaper in the winter.

I live 10 minutes from Pebble during weekdays and 4.5 hours from Bandon on weekends.

I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

Wait... maybe not..

Thanks for the heads up on availability! We are both military and moving this summer starting new jobs. Unfortunately, have to wait until we get to our new jobs in June to figure out timing.

What's the best way to get there? Fly to Portland and rent a car or fly into local airport?

Did you all do caddies and what was the cost for that?

Any ballpark for price per day, two rounds, food and drinks?

Thanks guys!
Ag_07

Oh yeah that's completely reasonable.

Rates vary with time of year. All the pricing info is pretty transparent on the website as I recall.

Last month, we (wife and her aunt/uncle) flew into Portland and drove the 4.5 hours down and stayed in Coos Bay. Not doing that again, Bandon is a guys trip through and through. You can fly United from IAH to OTH (in Coos Bay) now, with a stop in SFO.

Definitely did caddies, but rented a 2-wheel pushcart ($5) rather than have them carry. If they carry, it's $100/bag + tip, if you carry or push your own, it's $60 per person.

Sheep Ranch was $280, Old Mac on Day 2 was $230, Preserve on Day 2 was $75 (half price).

You can also get on the "wait list". I tried to plan for this summer (end of June) around October/November and they had nothing available initially. The lady on the other end she'd put me on a wait list and I got a phone call 3-5 days later for 2 consecutive days and said she would call back if any more consecutive days popped up. Which, they did, and she called me 2 days later. It's not ideal, but it is doable especially if you're only looking for 1-4 days.

It was explained to me the courses were so packed because 1) it's awesome, 2.) there was no cancellation fee due to COVID. Bandon realized that with things so unpredictable (more-so during those first 6-8 months of COVID) they didn't wanna give people the shaft and they wanted people to come back.

First post off my 6 month ban.

Bandon is Awesome. Make sure you bring your own liquor as it is expensive if you are staying there.

A lot of scratch for a dude that once drank 22 double vodkas at a casino

so you still get a caddy, but you just use the pushcart and then it costs $60/per round for the caddy?
AggieDruggist89

I was there for one day 36 holes on Monday. Trails and Bandon dunes. Bandon supplies pull cart for $5 per day. I just don't want a caddy unless it's foggy and nothing is visible.
AggieDruggist89

35th hole of the day

Bandon Dunes 17

So how many balls did you bring w you for the day? We are gonna have a caddy and I'm assuming they want to keep the bags as light as possible.

Picture is awesome.
AggieDruggist89

for 2 rounds, I brought dozen and half.

Lost one ball.

Lucky.

Makes sense. I'll be right there w that amount. Did you change shoes in between rounds? We are going end of August for 3 days playing 36 each.

I did not.

I wore Sketchers and my feet did hurt last nine.

Not sure any shoes would have helped. I think 2 rounds at Bandon was about 15 miles.

The courses are designed pretty well for walking, but if you're not used to it or out of shape, you'll get pretty tired.
Just imagine the guys who played 4 rounds in a day during the solstice last week!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Currently here. Tomorrow is our last day. Played Sheep and Trails the first day. Today played Pacific and Bandon. Tomorrow is old Mac and the Preserve. There's a slight chance we play something else as well or not go to punch bowl. I lost a few balls in fescue as I was struggling to find my swing. The other 3 courses I lost one combined.

Walking was tough day 1. Day 2 I feel much better.

Wednesday wind was tame. This morning was too. The afternoon was 18-20 mph. Temps were 60-70 (great)!
