You guys getting any smoke from the fires, yet?

We've got a little here in the Rogue Valley, but it's pretty high up.

We saw the fire on Sunday heading up to Bandon. Was small. We took 101 down through Eureka so didn't see it. But Wednesday, I could see the mushroom cloud like smoke engulfed Mt Shasta from my house in Redding. But because of wind direction, we didnt get any smoke.

In Monterey right now but will see how bad it is when we get back to Redding tomorrow.

Another summer and another fire season.

I bet you didn't miss the fires and smoke when you lived up in the North East!

Just got back from a day trip of playing Bandon Crossings. Never played that course before but had a blast! I wouldn't say it's better than any of the Bandon Dunes courses, but it's still worth a play when you're tired of walking since you can ride a cart.

It was a nice 65 degrees compared the 98 here in Medford. Good to get away from the heat!

Crossings is a great course. I actually like it more than Pacific but that's just me...

We walked 18 at Crossings under the suggestion by the front desk person. Man back 9 my legs got worked.

On our way to Bandon last Sunday, Medford was baking over 100. Once on Hwy42, I thought temp would start to drop every mile. Temp didn't break 100 until I hit Coquille.

Why would you walk Crossings....

I wouldn't do it again lol. Buddy paid for the trip. Who was I to complain?

Just booked rounds yesterday for September 2022! All 5 courses plus the Preserve. 4 nights. Going to be amazing.

Unfortunately we're on the waitlist but since it's just 2 of us I think we stand a good chance of getting on property. It'll be my first time but my friends third. So excited!

Just got back this Monday. Played Pacific Dunes and Bandon on the 27th, then Sheep Ranch and Bandon Trails the 28th and then Old Mac and Pacific Dunes on the 29th and then the Preserve on Monday morning before we left. If i could do it all over again, i wouldn't play 36 3 days in a row. That was rough and did not allow any time to really take in the rest of the resort. I would now try to do 36 the first day and then 18 each subsequent day. Overall it was a fantastic trip. The weather was nice, but very windy from about 10:00 a.m. on each day.
Make sure you get a caddy, but also dont be afraid to tell them you dont like yours and want a different one the next day.
Ive got plenty of pictures and other info if you want to message me.

Did y'all request Sept, or was that the first you could get? Me and my dad are looking to go in 2022.

Yeah we are thinking about Jan or Feb of 2022

Weather looks beautiful on the coast tomorrow so booked a 10:40 on Old Mac. Only $100 during the off-season for Oregon residents.

We were trying for September since we're going to Augusta in April and needed to space it out in terms of our family social capital.

Question for the folks that have already been to Bandon: with no cart, no bag (caddy), no nothing really, how do you drink beer during the round? I don't think a caddy is going to carry a cooler too. I don't get the impression that Bandon is some super stuffy purist place where everyone just nibbles protein bars and sips vitamin water. So, what's the deal?

And, no, drinking is not what it is all about asshat, but I enjoy a cold one or 3 while playing. If that is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

My group would grab some beer (sometimes as many as 12) and have the beer chick split it into two bags with ice. Two of us would carry the beer one hole, then alternate after that.

Always love getting a par 3 and then handing off when the next hole is a par 5.

Exactly what DallasAggie said. We have gone the sack of beers route and then we have hired a second caddy to carry around the Yeti style of backpack full of beer.

Update: went with Sunriver Resort and golf package in late Apr. definitely not Bandon but great golf and good accommodations for those on a budget. We got unlimited golf and a two story villa for $1K for both, three nights. We are stoked as this is our first golf trip as buddies. Hoping this becomes a tradition!

Sunriver is awesome.
But the weather in Sunriver in April can be pretty cold. It's the altitude. The highs will be similar to Bandon but the average lows in Bend/Sunriver in April is below freezing.

Thanks! Guess I'll just have to layer up!! Just ordered some cold weather golf gloves

Sunriver is a blast.

Mt Bachelor should still be open by then. You might be able to do a ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon day.

You may also get 70-80 degree afternoons yet the AM will be cold. One concern I would have is the frost delay that can impact the afternoon rounds.

If unlimited golf, I would try to play Crosswater more than Woodlands and Meadows. I know nothing about Calder a though.

I can tell you it was snowing at the Mt Bachelor ski resort during Memorial day weekend but that was in 2004 before the global warming.

Just got the email that we've been moved up off the waitlist and have a room at the Round Lake Lodge on property. Also gets us better tee times now so doing 36 is going to be much more pleasant.

Very happy!

Just got back. Played 210 holes in 5 days. Squeezed a few bonus holes in after 36 every day. Hard to turn down free golf on a world class golf course. My only major rec is to get a caddie. We had two of the best caddies I can imagine! Great conversation, good banter, and saved 5-10 shots a round. Take multiple pairs of shoes and good rain gear!
AgOutsideAustin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes sir, have the shoes, rain gear, and caddie reserved .

I'm 6 weeks out from my first Bandon experience.

Anything in particular I should note for the packing list? I was going to get new socks (likely ones taller than ankle to make sure my Achilles doesn't blister), and I should probably get a waterproof vest.

Multiple pairs of shoes for sure as has been mentioned previously. And shoes you've walked plenty in and know are broke in, but not worn out. The ground there is hard AF and like walking on concrete so unforgiving on feet. I had shin splints most of the time too because of it.

We went in mid-to-late August and had zero rain but were prepared for it anyway. It drizzled one day while playing the preserve, but not even bad enough to use a rain jacket. But we also probably lucked out. Also, I wore pants mainly and wasn't upset I did, but wish I had brought more than 1 pair of shorts. Afternoon round at Trails if sunny at the time comes to mind.

Don't over look sunscreen and anything else to help protect you from the wind. We had everything from light half club breeze to 4-5 club winds this time of year. Playing the same course in both of those is unreal and quite the experience. PW on a par 3 one day, 3 iron to same pin 3 days later.

Have fun! Very jealous! I've been dreaming of going back for 2 years since we went.

Related question... does anyone have any insight on when they're opening bookings for 2024? My 40th is in 2024, been thinking of doing a Bandon trip for it.

Just call them they will probably tell you. I know Sand Valley said to check their Twitter and website the first week this coming January for the '24 reservations to open up.
