So I've been hearing a lot of ya'll talk about your JPX Mizuno irons recently and I have the opportunity to hit 921 Forged Irons yesterday and I have to say..... it was buttery smooth. No kidding, these are the best irons I have ever hit and it's not even close. The feel and sound I got from making contact with the ball just filled me with confidence. Not to mention they look fantastic. I'm all but sold on these Irons and am probably going to add them to the bag in the next month or so.

I wanted to see if any of you have hit the JPX 921 series or if you have them in the bag yet? Did you have a similar reaction to me when you hit them? I'm going to keep them standard but I do want to add about 2 degrees of loft when I order them. I was carrying the 7i about 190 on my normal swings and thats a bit too far for my liking. I usually like it to carry around 180.

TL;DR - I want to see what your impression of the JPX 921 irons are.

I don't own them, but I did hit a few balls at edwin watts while waiting on a re-grip... they were the nicest feeling irons i've ever hit also. If I do get new irons in the next couple years these will definitely be on the top of the list.

Beware when adding two deg loft, you will also be adding extra bounce.

been hearing great things too. I've updated my bag for 4-6 irons with the c300 forged wilson staff irons, but do wish I'd hit the mizunos as well. I kept my old irons for 7-P. Might have to check out the 921s gently used next season if people keep raving about them so much

Those c300s look great in the bag but I had trouble locating the sweet spot on them. Yeah I've hit the 919s and the 921s are clearly superior in feel and sound. It's kind of crazy because the first swing I took with them I knew. I already had high expectations waiting for them for the last month or so but hitting them was everything I thought it would be and more. I truly feel like I can be 6-8 handicapper with these in the bag.

I'm okay with the extra bounce to be honest. I'm currently playing old taylormade rac ht game improvement irons and they are two degrees weaker than the 921 forged irons. Adding loft will also give me a little more spin which is what I want too.

Haha well, take it from someone who has been a Taylormade and Titleist fanboy only for the last 14 years. I love these Mizuno irons and would be damn proud to have them in the bag. I'd say go to golf galaxy, the pga super store, or whatever golf shop you frequent and hit them at least 3 or 4 different times. Each time you go, bring your current 7 iron, pick up the jpx 921 7 iron, and then another brands 7 iron that is similar in style to what you are hitting (e.g. callaway apex, taylormade p790s, wilson c300s, etc.). If you don't walk out the store after your fourth trip thinking that the jpx 921s are clearly the best irons you hit each time, don't buy them. If you do, well....... they do offer different financing options lol

This is exactly the thread I didn't need to click on. I've had Mizuno irons before and loved them before making the switch an all Titleist bag with some 716 AP2. My dad just called me last week saying one of his friends just got the Hot Metal 921s and how much he loved them when he hit a few playing with him last time.

We're getting ready to redo the house, but damn, this makes me want these as I'm teetering between a 6-7 right now and feel like I could benefit from a little more iron forgiveness.

Texags is like your wife, always willing to spend your money for you.

Lmao I'm telling you right now, the 921 forged irons are like a hot blonde sitting alone at the bar for a 6-7 handicapper.

It makes it all the harder to stomach that I just had my whole set regripped. Guess that is a sunk cost i should just forget about..

Maybe if I trade all 3 of my sets in, I can shave off $250 that price tag and just not tell the wife.

Honestly, you would probably get more for them if you put them up for sale on the facebook marketplace. There is always people looking to buy second hand sets on there. depending on what you have, you might be able to cover the cost of the irons.

This is awesome to hear. But not surprising. I just put some mp20 hmb's 5-pw in the bag and was looking to get a jpx919 hot metal pro 4 iron. Will probably wait and see if I can find a 921 on eBay or something.

Just hit them again today. Opinion hasn't changed. Still the best feeling iron I have ever held. Still hit it too far but adding 2 degrees of loft will fix that.

In other news.... I have no ****ing idea what I'm doing with my driver.

I don't understand the issue with hitting them farther. Unless it's leaving a yardage gap somewhere else, what is the problem with learning a new set of yardages?

The 919 tours in my mind are better than the new 921 tours. But they are so close, the feel on both are soft and consistent. Cant go wrong with either set!

I just got fitted for Mizuno MP20 MMC's. I would try them and the 21 JPX. For me, the MMC's were smoother and had better ball speed.

I already hit my irons plenty far. I just don't see a need to hit my 7 iron 200. I'm almost never that far out from the pin except only on short par 5s Or long par 4s. The new lower lofts just don't fit in my game well

What shafts did they fit you for? I've been playing the MMC's with Modus 120's since May and absolutely love them. I haven't hit the JPX's but does Mizuno ever put out a bad iron?

Can't remember which ones. Due to Corona it's already been 4 weeks since the fitting and the clubs aren't expected to arrive until mid October.

Anybody have a slightly used set of 919/921 Tours they want to unload? I have a BNIP T22 Newport 2 or Fastback 1.5 35" I will trade or Cash?

Considering the 921s just came out, I doubt anyone is willing to part with them. I've hit the 919 tours and while they feel great on solid hits and the control factor is very much there, I can't get behind the lack of distance and unforgiving nature of the clubs. But if you can hit them, good on you, mate! They look sexy as hell in the bag!

I got fitted into the MP-20 MMC's at the beginning of July and didn't get them until almost the end of August, but in the six rounds I've played with them so far I am absolutely loving them. The feel and the sound are great. Pretty consistent distance even on slight mi****s. Plus IMO they look great in the bag and over the ball. I was coming from 712 AP-2 and am loving the extra length and the penetrating flight. Getting an extra 10-15 yards depending on the iron, so still getting used to that. Shafts are Project X 6.0.

First set of Mizunos although I'd been interested for a long time. For some reason I didn't hit the JPX so can't compare.

You are making me very impatient. But ya, I ordered mine a month ago and am now being told it will be mid October at the earliest.

I need an iron that will take away the distance gap except in my 3 iron which i use a lot to drive off the tee. Trying to hit a 3/4 7iron gets old. I have a very high swing speed so i use a 2X stiff driver shaft from House of Forge. I really need Rifle 7.0 or X7 hard stepped.

Did some testing with the 919 versus the 921 and wasn't all that impressed. Numbers were fairly comparable across the board and my dispersion pattern was actually better with the 919. Don't expect massive changes from one version to the next, so I'm not all that surprised. Still a good iron if you've never used them.

Best golf tip I received last year:

For those in-between-club shots, take the longer club, choke up at least an inch, narrow your stance, and swing full. For me it consistently gets me to the distance right in between the two clubs.

When you say narrow your stance, do you mean stand closer to the ball or legs closer together? Guessing the former?

It would just be easier to dial in the distance if my gaps between each iron were less.

Legs closer together. You may have to stand slightly closer to the ball given that you've choked up on the club, but not much.

I went and hit the 921 Forged with a variety of shafts. The feel wasn't much (if any) better than my Titleist T300's, so I'm keeping what I have for now. They seemed like good clubs, and if I was dead set on changing (or upgrading from something older), they would definitely be worth a look.
