It's all good to not agree on everything. After all we play different equipment and have different preferences on golf courses etc. I'm often criticized for calling Bandon Dunes mickey mouse golf.

Call me stuffy traditional totalitarian but you guys are a bunch of entitled brats who think just because you like to play music, people who don't are dicks.

Time and place for everything. If wanted to listen to music on the course, I would use ear buds. I just expect others would return this courtesy.

I get it. It's a new trend. And yes I can tune it out. I am just bothered by some who play loud music and expect others to like it. For those conscientious golfers who turn it down, I appreciate the courtesy.

Earbuds are a terrible idea. Can't hear people yell fore, can't hear when someone finds your ball, etc. At least with music from the cart you can still hear your surroundings.

Same reason I think people that drive with headphones in are the worst.

I've been listening to music while I play for as long as I've been playing. The technology changes of badass speakers getting smaller and smaller is what's making you realize it more now.

I think you missed his point. He said "if" he chose to listen to music. From his previous posts it is clear he doesn't listen to music while playing so he doesn't use ear buds. He was making the point that he would be respectful to others, not literally saying he uses buds.

I think it's clear that listening to music while playing is an evenly split subject. To each his own. But for those of you who do, just remember that not everyone likes it. Be respectful.

I don't mind it if it's not too loud... like barely audible from ~ 15 ft away. If you're in the group ahead of me and I can hear your music.... you will be dodging golf balls all day.

I think you missed my point. My post wasn't necessarily directed to him because he's planning to use them; more because he and others think that's a good solution. I think it's a terrible idea.

There's a time/place/group setting for music. But for those who take the Norm "no, no, no, never" stance... toughen up, buttercup.

Westridge has this. The volume is just low enough it can't be heard from very far away. Works great to keep folks with crazy loud Bluetooth speakers from thinking they need to bring their own.

I just may have to full blast 80s Ozzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath on the boom box...

Should be acceptable I think.

I usually play alone and I always have my phone playing The Old 97s. You would probably be hard pressed to hear it from 10 to 15 feet away.

Thats my go-to as well

I don't mind it, but enjoy the disconnect to media. I listen when playing alone sometimes. Of course I am streaming TexAgs radio. But I would not listen when playing with others.

I think the first question in the parking lot outside the pro shop before loading clubs is "who has their speaker?"

My group always has music playing. Usually 1 cart but sometimes both. Most common music played is early 2000s Houston rap.

No to any music. I like blasting my air horn after good shots and music interferes with that.

I was playing solo Friday evening. Had me speaker as usual. The head pro heard I was on the course and rode out to meet me (I'm a former superintendent and sometimes staff will come say hello). I had forgotten my speaker was on until the Pro started singing along to Johnny Cash as he walked up to meet me.

I don't normally listen to music while playing golf, but it does not bother me at all when paired with someone or others in a tournament that do.

I think an air horn works better to cover up the music.

Can you give me an example of tracks that might be included in such a playlist?

...for shared commiseration and not at all due to tracks that might be in my own rotation.
I play regularly with guys who also play together in a band. One guy is the bassist, so the rotation includes a lot of Rush and Ratt. Another guy is the keyboardist and he loves Devo and Kraftwerk. I often run the mixing board for them, so my playlist has a lot of reference tracks with multiple vocalists and instruments (think Simple Minds and B-52s.) We have a blast.
