The new AvidGolfer best of private clubs rankings just came out and they have some information on each course in town.

Last years edition made it a point to note how much on-course gambling goes on at my club. They took a more refined approach this year it seems. Haha

Planning a relocation to DFW and looking at Canyon Creek CC and Bent Tree CC - any advice in those two clubs is much appreciated, fees, course, social, waitlist, etc. TIA

Bent tree will be around $100k. Canyon about 1/3 of that.

I think there are members of both clubs that post here.

Last I heard Bent Tree had a golf waitlist.

Canyon Creek, which is club corp, will never have a waitlist.

2 different memberships, for sure, especially after Bent Tree built their new clubhouse.

If you are considering Canyon, I would also check out Prestonwood Creeks. Im guessing they will run about the same and you also get access to Prestonwood Hills if you are at Creek.

Canyon Creek: Played it last week. It's owned by a for profit corporation (Invited clubs formerly known as ClubCorp) so not member owned. No wait list but they did say that they have only around a handful of full memberships left. Socially it's predominately upper middle class so the good is that it's more laid back and not snooty but business wise it's not going to be a great place to network and wheel and deal. Course was just re-opened last November after a complete renovation. Did a solid job on the renovations but the course itself doesn't really have any memorable holes which is the only kicker.

Bent Tree CC: Equity club so its member owned. You have to have a current member either sponsor or recommend you. Waitlist to join last I heard was around 5-6 years. Initiation fee is somewhere in the low 100k range. One of the nicest clubhouses in the entire state, it was finished in 2021 and I think the price for it was something crazy like 20 million ? Social wise it's not going to be as snooty as Dallas Country Club or Brook Hollow but you still have the ability for some high-end networking with it being a desirable equity club. I've only played it twice and I love the course. Hole #14 is one of my favorite holes in all of DFW.

Just FYI, Bent Tree does not have that long of a waitlist. With the right people, it's a several-month process but not years. We passed a course renovation project/assessment a couple of months ago. I'm on the membership committee out there so I'm happy to help where I can.

Anyone known who is doing the course renovation at Bent Tree and when it will be done? I assume it's quicker timeline to get in now with the course being shut down for awhile?

Beau Welling is leading the renovation. Beau has worked with Tiger Woods on a number of his projects as well as Fields Ranch West. The course closes in November and will be closed for a year.

Much quicker timeline than it was in the heart of Covid and with members leaving due to the assessment for the renovation.

I don't think there is a waitlist at Bent Tree. Not sure how long their process is, but I have heard you can get right in.
