18 holes is stupid from a fan perspective.

I just like it for the tradition... Another thing that makes the U.S. Open different. That and the Monday playoff at the 2008 U.S. Open was really the first golf aside from The Masters that I ever really sat down and watched. I was on vacation with my wife's family and my FIL and I snuck off to a Chili's to watch most of it. So fun memories.

But I don't disagree with you. Very inconvenient for most people and certainly an excessive way to break a tie.
