ok, got a buddy who is always looking for "the deal" and this week he says it's at Houston National. Anyone played there in the past couple of weeks? Every time I go, the fairway are thin (dirt) and the greens are iffy. Anyone???

Yeah every time I've been it's bad. It plays like a $20 muni and not like the $50-60 semi private.

However, I've heard on here that Sterling was going to invest in a new irrigation system that was going to help with the course conditions. Whether they have or not I don't know but without it I won't be going back.

havent played it lately, but driving by the fairways along Queenston are greener than I've seen in the last couple years.

I played Sterling last week. That course is boring to me, but I guess it was in decent shape. Grass on the fairways, but still plenty of bad lies. The greens were fast. Bunkers were inconsistent.

But I glanced up either 9 or 18 on Houston National as we were finishing up, and there were multiple patches of just dirt in the fairway. It looked pretty rough from my angle.

I thought Sterling was hosting a TGA event this coming weekend. Ive never played in one, but I'd think the courses for those type of events would be pretty well conditioned?

If you were on the 18 green you were looking at #9.

Wasnt all that impressed with the sterling side last year when we played it for the cypress howdy club tourney. The only memorable part of the course was the two guys making out in the hot tub off the #4 or #5 tee box.

I've always said the best part about the place is the talent that hangs out at the little bar and grill right there by the driving range. Lot of bored houswives hangin out drinking wine in that place.

Greens are always good on both courses. They have been short on water for a long time. They are getting that taken care of and I will bet the course will be greatly improved. it's been a rough winter for most golf courses I bet most of them are glad Spring is here.

Agreed. And some of the barmaids are gorgeous.
