I'll be in the Aspen/Glenwood Springs area for a little bit and want to play golf. The absolute nicest possible course that I can get on. Any suggestions? Anything from Denver out to Aspen, and/or within an hour of Aspen in any direction. TIA.

I played Aspen Glen a couple months ago and it was incredible.

Aspen Glen (if you can get on) or Red Sky Ranch

Actually, the Aspen muni course is also very good. The greens are tiny and lightning.

So Aspen Glen is private?

Played Red Sky Ranch (Fazio Course) last week, it was great. Was paired with a guy who played the Norman Course and said it was harder, but was really neat. Either course, Red Sky is pretty awesome. It's a membership club, so they swap each day which course the public can play.

Beaver Creek is also good, and cheaper.. The first three holes are real cool, and rest is nice. Both courses (Red Sky and BC) are in great condition.

Keystone River Course is my favorite mountain golf course.

Both Red Sky and Aspen Glen are private but aren't that hard to get on.

I love Red Sky Ranch (prefer Norman) and Keystone River is great too. Also big fan of Breckenridge golf course and there 3 - 9's.

Anyone in CO ever played the course where the Solheim Cup was staged? That place looked really nice. I loved the views in the background on some of the holes they showed.

I played in a while ago. Real nice course...just out in the middle of nowhere.

I haven't played it, but it's 12 miles from my house. What's crazy is that it is probably either 4th or 5th in terms of nicest courses within 20 minutes.

-Castle Pines Golf Club & Cherry Hills Country Club have more history & are much prettier courses. I have not played either of these courses.

-The Sanctuary is probably my favorite course, even though I only get to play it once a year.... immaculate, beautiful, tons of elevation changes, and there are only 2 members (ReMax founder and his wife). It's basically heaven on earth.

-Pradera: I've heard it's pretty similar to Colorado Golf Club. Both seem to be the middle of nowhere/not as pretty type of courses that present a tough test of golf with some great holes.

-Ridge at Castle Pines North: public course, always in exceptional shape, and some really good holes & elevation changes.

Inverness: private, tied in to a resort, excellent greens and overall condition, surrounded by offices/condos/stores... cool location.

While my guess is that CGC is a much better test of championship golf than Inverness and Ridge at CPN (and I'll even mention my home course, Lone Tree, for its views, elevation changes, condition, and lightning-fast greens)..... I really like all 3 of these courses, especially the scenery.

I appreciate all the responses. So if you could choose one, and it was one that I could have access to, which would it be?

Another one I just thought of is Lakota Canyons...it's a nice course, not a must play or anything but it's just outside of Glenwoods Springs.

For me, if I could play any one of them, it would be Aspen Glen. Gorgeous and empty...If it had to be a course I knew I could get on, probably Keystone's River Course or Breckenridge's course

Agreed with Red Sky Ranch. Surprisingly I liked the Norman better, but they were both great. Sonnenalp too is very nice and a little cheaper.

Didn't like Beaver Creek. First 3 holes were extremely cool, the rest seemed like they forced a golf course into an area without room for a golf course.
