This would be a good time to remind people of stones and glass houses. Reggie was on the radio yesterday and didn't come across as some sort of genius. I'm old enough to remember when Lester Hayes was interviewed after he starred in a Super Bowl. He was an absolute idiot who couldn't stop saying "you know". When you listen to people, you have to remember that some have to learn to talk dumber for a reason. When I first went to work as a CPA, many of our clients butchered English. If I had continued to speak schoolboy English, it would have grated on their nerves. I roughed it up some. If Vince started smoothing his up to much, I doubt it would help his ability to lead the players on his team. Same with Reggie when he was at A&M.

Just a thought.

Dub, McGee's ability to speak coherently hasn't seemed to affect his leadership ability. Or are you implying that by Reggie or Vince improving their speaking skills they would create a sense of separation from their roots(or teamates who speak similarly)?

My point is that Vince Young can't form a complete sentence. I'm quite certain there are millions of other athletes, even Aggies, who aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Start your own thread about each of them if you like.

I am actually looking forward to the Aggies getting good again so that when they have a highly drafted player and we here them talk on ESPN we can have an intelligent discussion, just like this one, about said player.

Several of my clients now are Aggies. The clients that I was referring to were from 38 years ago and two barely got out of high school. They had made a lot of money in real estate although they could barely read.

PayDirt - I saw it. I figured you could figure out the answer without directions. Yes, I think players like Vince and Reggie need to speak "'hood" talk some to lead their teammates. At least it helps.

McGee grew up speaking like he does, and Reggie and Vince grew up speaking like they do. I think all should stick to their roots pretty much and not start tryin' to sound better than their teammates.

It's not just his grammar. He's a phenomenal runner and athlete. But his career will be short lived if he's as stupid as he sounds. Good legs can only take you so far at that position.
