ESPN is expected to announce today that 16 Tech students will be chosen to compete in a reality show called "Knight School" that will be filmed in Lubbock, Tech officials said.

Robert Lundgren, the chief operating officer of RIVR and one of the executive producers of the show, made two trips to Lubbock to finalize the deal.

"What a gorgeous campus," he said. "I had no idea how great a campus Tech had. The people are so friendly, the university and athletic department personnel have been so supportive of this. This is a great concept and Coach Knight is a great man. I expect this to do well." http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/080505/col_0805051000.shtml

I guess they never saw this:

quote:
The only Texas Tech alumni I can name other than me played football or shot Ronald Reagan. Lubbock was a wondrous place to eat meat or hear a band, but uglier than a group "before" shot from The Swan. There's a reason all the postcards show Buddy Holly or a bale of cotton. Lubbock is flatter than whichever Olsen twin doesn't eat and has all the greenery of the moon. Even the sky gets ugly this time of year. The winds kick up loose topsoil from the South Plains cotton fields and everything—cars, teeth, blondes—turns the color of dry dirt.

To outsiders, a "dust storm," as townies call these brown-outs, sure seems like a trailer for Armageddon.

Be leary Tcehies. We were excited about ESPN being on campus and "Sidelines" was a complete embarassment.

There is a myth about the non-existance of bad publicity.

Sidelines is yet another reason Wally Groff is gone!

I agree about "Sidelines" because of the way it was edited but this seems to be a different type of show. ESPN loves Coach Knight so they'll probably show most things in a positive light. On the other hand, controversy and fireworks make for better ratings so chairs might be flying across the court! I guess time will tell.

Wreckem- I'm afraid the Aggies are right for a change. You are being a bit naive if you think ESPN isn't going to go after negative stuff. It's a business...and feel good, 100% positive stuff doesn't make for good ratings.

Give em just enough rope to hang themselves...and they will.

It's all about ratings. If ratings mean exploiting the school and/or coach - it will be done. They'd better not cross Knight too much, he'll take their heads off.

"Well Mr. Knight, as iT says right here in the contract..."

"**** OFF YOU ****ING **********!"
