I saw this mentioned in another thread but nobody answered. I was too young to remember the specifics of what went down after the Texas fans rushed the field.

what exactly happened? Didn't a corp member draw a sword?

Some Texas fans ran out on the field and the entire corp poured out on the field and tackled them.

lets just say there was more than enough self-righteous indignation to go around after the game.

I'm pretty sure a few binoculars were swung in anger.

This is what happened: a lot of Aggie fans went home that night unhappy.

The only swords I saw drawn were by a line of Seniors using them to extend their reach to create a barrier behind which they were keeping the overzealous underclassmen.

Dammit don't make me take up for Corps Turds.

I guess I have to though. Toward the end of the game, some UT fans were showing signs they were gonna rush the field. The CTs line that endzone, arm in arm. The UT fans were throwing **** at them and eventually did try to rush the field. It turned into a large scale game of Red Rover. Plenty of punches thrown from both sides.

My favorite "rivalry" type moment was before the game in 87 (or was in 89). When our team was standing at midfield signing the Spirit pregame. UT players met them at midfiled and started mouthing. Brawl ensued. Team with the home team roster numbers won the fight, and the game.

UT fans thought they were tards on both those occasions Grego. But we're not their rival.

I might have cold-cocked a 'sip that night. Somehow, though, I doubt he remembers it.

Poosies.

and when you say "might", it's probably because it looked like he assaulted your fist with his face, at least that's how it might have looked from my perspective

I think my friend Cecil used the legal term "comparative negligence" in describing what happened. He also wanted to leave just when it was getting good, and I said, "No lets watch this play out." The funniest thing was seeing the 2 UT chics run around thinking they wouldn't get tackled...WRONG. At first it was a really tame game of Red Rover...the UT fans would be caught, and then walked off the field, and it got nasty when one of them took a swing while being escorted off the field. I remember thinkng this will be exaggerated to where the story will be that we were pulling their fans out of the stands and beating them up. They came on the field pretty much unempeded on the South side though...
Remember the one UT fan that the Cops handcuffed to the goalpost for being unruly?

He is the older(crazy @ss) brother of a HS buddy. He was drunk. He had an orange(fans didn't know if we would get Orange Bowl or Sugar) and through it at the Corp section as they started coming out. In his inebriated state he overshot and hit that Campus Cop in the groin. After being cuffed to the goalposts the cop walked him in cuffs to the real police station, be jeered and taunted the whole way he flashed the Hookem from beihind his back(I'm telling you the guy is not right when he's drunk). When they got to the police station the campus rent-a-cop demanded he be preccessed. The real cops laughed and he was out of there in 20 minutes.

Crazy day. Our fans got to big for thier britches(it had been a while since we got a big win in Kyle) and the Corp overreacted in response(I've got another buddy who eventually became Drum Major who would tell you the same thing, although he's awfully proud of khaki uniform stained with 't-sip' blood). Som e swords were drawn, but is was primarily the younger cadets that took thier 'duty' a little too far.

Campus police are real police, too.

You are all wrong, on t+1 '95 Texas beat the crap out of Baylor on the first "+1" game thanks to A&M having been on probation the year before. As for t+9 95 the real story is that Texas came into Kyle with a freshman FB/RB and played a hell of a game to win the final SWC title.
