If you get a chance to play Miramont, do not let it pass you by. Unfreaking believably great layout and a fantastic RTJ layout.

Don Adam dropped some serious change on that place and the clubhouse/hotel is simply stunning.

Despite some heat exhaustion/bleeding ute I still managed to shoot a couple under on my first visit. Great freaking course.

By the way, Coach Fran's house is being built out on one of the par fours (15 or 16 I believe) and it is strong to quite strong.

I believe you shot under par...I was wondering what you did actually shoot??I have some friends that have played there and said it was tough..

So when you play a foursome with yourself TopPatchNemesis, do you all use the same clubs or do you bring 4 different sets?

It was tough, but incredibly fair as the greens and fairways were flawless. Played the blue tees not the tips though and shot 70, missed a 3 foot birdie putt on 18.

I will admit to the use of the old family mulligan on the tee at the 7th.

Fran's (or Mrs. Fran's house, actually) is very nice. I thought about buying a lot near his but then I realized I don't make eleventy billion dollars a year like him.

I'm looking to get on there with one of Don's family members sometime soon. I can't wait.

So i am guessing that you are an avid golfer...You play every week??

I wish I did TG, I had a club in my hand as far back as I have memories. I played four sports in high school and actually left golf for a few years thinking I had a chance to walk on and play baseball or basketball somewhere (actually had zero chance but I was 18 an knew it all). My sister was a teaching pro with Dave Pelz who was my only instructor. She died in a car accident at the Hills of Lakeway in the early 90's and I decided to come back to the game. I don't play much at all to be honest. Hoping to change that. I already have clubs for my 2 year old daughter...

Yeah i do not play as much either..I have gone through stages of breaking alot of clubs here lately..So I am just going to stop for a bit..

2 different 60 degrees(lost one in the tree another went over the knee)

I'd give anything to play Miramont.

Advice taken.....

I shot a 68 there a few days ago..........of course, I picked up my ball and went to the clubhouse for beer following the 10th hole.

Man...I wish my daughter had taken up golf.

Instead, she chose a nice little inexpensive hobby......horses.

The pro at Miramont lives in Pebble Creek down the street from me...his daughter and my youngest play together often. I do have to say the opulence of the course and clubhouse is almost numbing....I've never been to River Oaks CC in Houston, how do the two compare?

Where is Miramont? This is the first I've heard of it. I'm playing the Battleground tomorrow for the first time in my life... it looks daunting.

Well, not exactly....make that a pic of about 1/2 of the clubhouse.

Oh yeah, see the trees in front which apparently have been growing there for 10-15 years due to their size? They were brought in and planted...there must be 1,000-2,000 trees that size that were brought in. There are plenty of nice tall native trees, but not enough live oaks to suit the owner.
