pretty funny, considering the powerhouse OOC schedule they are famous for... (rice,n.texas,LaLa,etc.)

RWC and his butt buddy Don Drysdale have got to be the two biggest douches on the net. Just about every post of his that I've had the displeasure of reading is about A&M.

Texas has the 4th toughest schedule of all time, A&M has the 18th toughest schedule of all time.

http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/rankings/all_time_team_sched_rankings.php

The OOC schedule was weak the last few years and A&M's was strong, but that is more of a recent phenomenon.

First, when we were in the SWC A&M seemed like they would schedule every scrub directional school in Louisiana while Texas at least played OU every year non-conference.

Second, a lot of the teams A&M played the last couple years were not traditionally good teams and certainly were not expected to be good when you scheduled them (Utah was supposed to suck, Pitt normally sucks but they had Fitzgerald).

Third, some of the OOC teams Texas scheduled were worse than they were when we scheduled them (UNC was a top-5 team when Texas scheduled them, Tulane was good, Arkansas was above-average).

Fourth, Texas has been much better football program than A&M. When comparing SOS, you hurt ours and we help yours.

Finally, with A&M's OOC schedule over the next few years, I would not be crowing about Texas scheduling patsies.

That's pretty cool, I wonder how they figure that up.

We have a ~50 game series with LSU. While the football team from Baton Rouge is not quite the same level as OU, I wouldn't put them anywhere near the category of scrub directional school. Also, we played the majority of those games in Death Valley, which is a little tougher than the Cotton Bowl that is always half full of burnt orange (at least until halftime).

Virginia Tech? Clemson? FSU? Miami? Notre Dame?

Yeah, we always schedule perennial gutter-dwelling programs.

Do you even still notice the burnt orange tint when you look at your computer screen?

I also love how Pitt "normally sucks" but Tulane is a "good" team.

Pitt was a joke last year. They lost to freaking Nebraska at home. But then they win the weakest major conference and get a BCS bid.

Possibly the biggest understatement ever posted on the rivalries BB.

Of course, there's always the "patch is gay" comments...

Go ahead and jump all over A&M's OCC - but realize that some of these teams that are scheduled are to replace teams that have backed out of contracts.

LSU being good is a recent thing. They had won one MNC (sometime in the 1940s) at the point in time the series ended.

A&M has never played LSU in Death Valley.

You realize Texas has a significant advantage over OU in the series? Or did you just start watching college football within the last 5 years?

I'm not saying Pitt was a world-beater at all, I am just saying that calling Pitt a team that sucks and saying Tulane is good is just a little bit of a stretch when you look at the history of both teams.

When you schedule, you don't know if the team that played that year will be good in 5,6, or 7 years. The best indicator will be a program's status and history. To say that scheduling Tulane is tougher than scheduling Pitt is just stupid. Pitt has 6 recognized national championships and can hire an NFL-caliber coach in Dave Wannstedt, while Tulane has one C-USA championship and was a stepping stone school for Mack in his early days.

Ok maybe I should say Tiger Stadium or Baton Rouge - I am not sure what other stadium in Baton Rouge could house a College football game, and I would be pleased if you would enlighten me.

Is their 1958 MNC really that different from tu's 1963 championship? Really?

You want to talk about the historics of LSU football, yet in the same thread you want to run this poodle out into the dog fight?

Those supposed top-5 UNC teams were never able to win their conference either. I wonder why their coach could not ever get it done. Maybe he just needed a better recruiting bed, bigger facilities, more of a football atmosphere ....

i think that is what he was saying nimrod....playing @ LSU is absolutely tougher than playing OU in a 50\50 'neutral' site....

Tulane had their miracle year where they went undefeated and fininshed top 10. So yeah, they were good.

UNC was a top 5 team when they were scheduled. When was A&M at that level last?

And playing LSU in College Station is much, much easier than playing OU at a neutral site.

OOC schedule smack is, and always has been, weak. You never know who is going to be good in five years. Both schools follows similar practices in scheduling OOC. Some folks on here act as if only Texas has been playing directional schools for the last 10 years, while conveniently ignoring the fact that both schools do it. It's a never-ending, unwinnable discussion, yet it still comes up all the time.

I was referring to the comment about the Cotton Bowl being half-full of Burnt Orange until halftime (suggesting OU beats Texas all of the time--which is not the case).

I agree, using Tulane to try and bolster your OOC arguement is pretty silly.

Tulane had 1 good year in their weak ass conference, I'll give you that. However, comparing them to traditional powers like Notre Dame, FSU, etc is lunacy.
Mr. Randy Watson
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Notre Dame has sucked for a long time now.

You have not played FSU and will not play them.

Another thing, have the Ags beaten any of their good OOC opponents in the last few years?
MacD
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Texas played Notre Dame also. In fact, Notre Dame was a ranked team at the time. Top 10 one of the years.

check your facts skippy,,,,we played them as our opener in 1998...we had a home and home scheduled against them starting next season, but they had to back out because the ACC was restructured...
as to whether or not we have won any of those games, we beat clemson (then, ranked 25) last season... the only decent team yall have scheduled OOC the last couple of years you split with, so i dont see your point...

We beat Pitt on the road a couple of years ago and they finished in the top 25.

Edit: We also beat Utah in 2003 and they finished 10-2 and ranked.
