When you strip all the BS and boil it down, it was real simple. The media giants told them to pound sand with regards to money. If they add crappy teams and crappy games to the BDF inventory, they weren't getting paid extra for it. With the LHN tying up the sip Tier 3 money, they don't have any leverage for a conference network. So no money there either. And not getting paid extra means diluting the current share payout. And no one in the BDF can afford to take less money.
This aint rocket science. Its simple math and x/13 is way worse than x/11.

I'm pretty sure he was told exactly where they belong. That's on the outside of the dumpster looking in.

They made a mistake. It's a terrible decision. They pile one mistake on top of another. The University of Houston belongs in there and you go pick up Cincinnati, you could do that too. You had to get the University of Houston. That'll cost them in time because Texas & Oklahoma will fly out of the mist. Then they won't have any damn thing."

Do any other conferences feature the "graduated entry plan" for distribution of revenues? Not the case in the SEC. ACC? B1G? It just seems like a bad way to start a new business relationship.

n what way is "no change in status quo" indicative of volatility?
If the league dissolves in 2025, it might be just as well not to be around for the implosion. From a UH standpoint, that has to be the next target, as about the only way I see UH getting in one of the 4 big boy conferences would be as part of a four-team package going to the Pac with OU and Texas. You would have to assume that Tech has the inside angle on that right now, but that isn't set in stone. Whatever advantages they may have on the field, they will always have the albatross of Lubbock around their necks.UH_ME08 said:
You Aggies are so lucky to have a great administration that had the foresight to gtfo the big XII. You all are thriving now in the SEC and I am happy for y'all.
Today's news was obviously pretty crappy as a Coog fan but I hope that maybe it's for the best...not sure it's a good idea to be in such a dysfunctional organization in which 1-2 schools hold the rest by their balls. The part that hurts the most, however, is that Herman is almost assuredly gone.

There goes that t.u Houston campus.
I agree. A&M is the nearest Power-5 school to H-Town (no Big 12 garbage nearby), and also has a Mays Business School location.Federale01 said:
Hmm, while I agree UH is in a weak position, I would think we would try to stop this as well. A&M owns Houston and the last thing we need is a sip campus in the middle of it.
Texas already has a university presence in every major Texas city. Houston is the last piece. It is designed solely to eliminate UH.Federale01 said:

We have bigger fish to fry. There was a time, 20 years ago, where we were frequently battling the HECB. Now, not so much. I'm not sure it would be smart for us to get involved in this fight. If we start meddling here, next thing you know the sips on the HECB will be supporting a Tech vet school.Federale01 said:
