I have never seen a head coach so ready to throw his assistants under the bus. I'm sure these comments do wonders for the atmosphere in his locker room.

You approved that game plan, bucko. BTW - assistant's contracts are year to year, so good job of fostering an atmosphere that'll run off whatever good ones you have.

"We just know defensively we have our issues. Each coach will be evaluated and we'll see where we go from here. We've got to look at where we are and improve our performance."
Strong went even further and said he will be "more involved" with the defense and did not rule out the possibility of making the calls himself instead of defensive coordinator Vance Bedford. Strong, who switched offensive play-callers after last year's opening loss to Notre Dame, has a long history as a defensive coordinator and made it clear he was not pleased by watching Bedford's unit allow 11 big plays to California, nine via the pass and two on running plays.
