In his post-game tragedy, Charlie says he is actually focusing on "pride" now. That's the ticket.

I'm sure that chollies come and play early line sells pretty well USUALLY...but when you're getting your ass kicked week after week, looking stupid and poorly coached, it's not something recruits want.

I just don't believe it.

If Malik had come to us, he'd be playing significant reps on a solid defense with others to lead where he can just make plays and not worry about being 22 years old when he's only 18.

Instead he's the spokesperson for the whole crap program. What's he thinking?. Gets trotted out after every game to sit in front of the microphone as if it's his fault or responsibility to fix it. I guarantee u that kid is miserable.

He got sold a bill of goods and regrets it everyday.

Once chollies guys start transferring at seasons end, that program is toast. For years.

One of the commentators on ESPN Radio made a great point about the sips. When you're a bad football team, you have to focus on the basics; you literally don't have time to work on the finer points. The problem the sips have right now is they aren't even doing the basics like extra points, punts, pursuit, and basic blocking correctly. When you're that bad, you go from coaching the basics and playing for pride.

Given Kris Boyd's tweet at halftime, I don't know if they have any pride right now, and that's sad. I feel bad for some of their players; this is not what they signed up for. But everyone else in that program can go **** themselves with a red hot fire poker.

It was Urban Meyer's at Florida. Strong just adopted it. Had it at Louisville, too.

I just don't understand how any longhorn fan would have any faith in Charlie's "plan".

He brings in Shawn Watson as OC.
Then brings win Wickline as Co-OC

They run whatever offense Shawn Watson ran last year... but under oath said that Shawn called all passing plays and Wickline called all running plays.

Is there another school in any division that would divide their OC duties in this way? You have about 25 to 40 seconds to call a play after each down. there's no time for a play-calling by committee system to have a chance to get a play called in that.

Now there is another Co-OC this year who really hasn't changed anything much. Except that Heard got some long running plays against Cal when the real play broke down and didn't work, and made it look like the change to Norvell was a success.

But then you had the offense output vs OSU and TCU that was back to Swoopes like numbers (maybe worse). Remember in the OSU game, the OSU gifted Texas with 14 points. Straight-out gave them 14 points. QB dropped the ball with no around him, and QB threw straight to a DB that was out of position to make a play if the ball was thrown on target.

Essentially the offense score 13 points vs OSU and 7 vs TCU... and the 7 vs TCU was in Garbage time.

To be fair, the first quarter hadn't ended before "garbage time" began.

Yeah but it was sip ministry of propaganda that took that and made it into the nationally publicized built it excuse it became. When they dump him they will have their talking points in order and completely avoid recognizing how great of a coach and a man they built Chick up to be.

Exactly right. The sip media promoted the hell out of the core values and that idea that Charlie was cleaning house on the entitled Mack era players. Common sense rules were suddenly visionary ideas.

Mack Brown understood the sip media bias and used it to his advantage. Charlie doesn't get it and would be better saying nothing.

True. They made it a media talking point to distinguish Strong from Brown's "Country Club" atmosphere. False dichotomy from the get-go of course, but you have to remember who was running things--Patterson the Carnival Barker.

And to a very large degree it worked, almost too well. Now that they have built up this persona as Strong not being a football coach but instead this paragon of virtue, mentoring young kids, and "doing it right", it makes it harder to fire him for being a crappy coach at the Xs and Os.

Every commentator starts with, "I like Charlie Strong. Like what he's trying to do at Texas...." I always chuckle when I hear that. From my viewpoint (and that of an increasing number of sips) what Charlie Strong "is doing at Texas" is driving the brand into the ground.

Not just the cluster at OC, why does he get a pass for pushing two other coaches out the door after year 1. If I'm a fan, that's a HUGE red flag that this guy is clueless.

Could you imagine a newly elected president tossing a few cabinet members out after six months? Only if he was an idiot.

Listening to any of his press conferences is a huge clue he's clueless.

Charlie has no idea what he is doing.

It takes a serious idiot to do the following....

1. Blame his bi-racial marriage, and its effect on old white dudes, on his lack of coaching opportunities. He has blamed his lack of progress on this for over a decade.
2. This places focus on your marriage. Actually highlights your wife and children. Places focus on your relationship. Everyone knows what your wife looks like now. How many people know what Charlene Sumlin looks like? She is as white as Charlie's wife.
3. While placing focus on your marriage, you are destroying it behind the scenes with another man's wife.
