Gene, you should lose with a little more grace. I'd be pissed off too if a school just hung 59 points on Tech. That's no reason to attack a kid and also insult a school.

FWIW-- Myers was right in not giving him a huge raise right after last season. Was he peaking, or is this just scratching the surface? We gave him a modest, performance based raise and Leach thought he'd take his chances. Looks like Leach did the right thing.

Tech alums have more money than you think-- we are just a bit tapped out right now. We've spent nearly $200 million on facilities in a very short time. I think hanging those 59 points and winning three in a row will be a nice incentive for Tech fans to break out the check book once again.

As for our budget, we are in the middle of the pack in the Big12. I believe we had an operating budget of $29 million. Attendance should go up by at least 4k per game this year, and our club level and luxury boxes will generate more money for the program.

As mentioned above, we will make leach a competitive offer that will set his family up for life. Don't forget two other factors that go into this-- Lubbock is a very inexpensive place to live and on top of that Texas does not have state income tax. A couple hundred grand a year might not be that much more when you factor in cost of living and tax issues.

You guys really give yourself and your program way too much credit. You were a superbowl maybe a decade ago when you used to sniff the top 10. You are just a speedbump on the way to bigger things now.

Your program is on the way down, ours is on the way up.....It's just the way things are........

At least you still have your "superbowl" against the sips to look forward to for this year......

Florida wants offense. And they won't hesitate to throw $2 million at him. Now try and convince me that Tech is more appealing that Florida. And your state income tax argument is moronic. Budget figures will steadily rise in the next few years as basketball (both programs) and now football are gaining momentum. Attendance will be up in both sports and our basketball program will go far in the NCAAs.
