Marquis Johnson, 6'3" 230lb WR, was top 3 WR prospect in the country form Ill. Signed with Texas but didn't make the clearing house (some say he got screwed) and went to play JUCO ball in KS. Was a "sure thing to come to Texas" according to Ketch. Now coming to Tech with 3 years of eligibility left.

Leach snags his first legit top natl bluechip, with more to come. Gonna be kinda scary when Leach starts getting bluchip talent to run his offense, isn't it???????

I don't know if he fits at TT honestly. Leach finally has incorporate the small fast guys (Glover, Welker) running crosses over the big guys (Paige, Francis) running fades. I would take the former any day as a tt fan.

I agree, the PAC-10 will be scared ****less of Arizona.

Having a speedy big deep threat only adds to the danger of this offense.

Now Tech will have two 6'3" + big receivers in Hicks and now Johnson.

This only compliments Techs speedy small inside receivers, and makes them even more difficult to defense.....

Gene, sorry to burst your bubble, but news will come out soon about a large long term contract for Leach. I know, you will call "BS" until you hear it, but remember that I told you.

Leach is going nowhere, and will continue his A&M domination and track to the Big 12 Championship and BCS games in the years to come.......

Marquis Johnson was a stud coming out of HS. I want to say that rivals had him as one of the top WRs in the country, he was definitely on the national 100. Good pickup.

First he committed to Texas. Then he was out with a couple of girls drinking under age, wrecked his dad's car, and was injured. After commiting to Texas, the state of Illinois wanted nothing to do with him. He had to go juco and Texas finally had to pass on him.

So he ends up at tech.

Plus, IF Leach is really that good and starts to dominate we will just buy him from you and cut our losses with Fran. That's how it works. And that's IF Texas decides they don't want him first.

You can say it is just talk if you want. There has been a major push and initiative driven by the alumn association to secure Leach long term. I can't say any specifics, as neither can anyone from the university until it is released.

I know, internet talk is cheap, but it will all come out soon.

Your improvements are nice for Tech. But they aren't **** compared to the big time programs. Your facilities aren't nearly as nice as ours, Texas', Oklahoma's or Nebraskas. To even compare your warchest and resources to other schools assanine and only makes you look more like a horse's ass than you already are. Myers offered Leach $750,000!!!!! He was pissed and insulted. You honestly think you welfare queens are going to be able to double that? Please.

i know we don't have the facilities that compare with ya'll, texas, etc. i'm simply saying that if need be, we can come up with the paycheck.

Gene, why do you consider Arizona such a big step from Tech? Athletic budget are just about the same, Pac 10 is not a stronger conf than the big 12, he has a system and players in place at Tech, and he owns one of the state's two biggest schools over his tenure.

Don't spout any BS about Arizona being a "bigtime" program. They had one small run in the late 90s and that was it with Dessert Swarm.

He is staying, and you are just going to have to deal with it.

Who cares if he stays. Leach will be dealt with.

Arizona won't be the only school looking for a new coach at the end of this year.

Texas Tech is Texas A&M's Daddy! I will never again question the superiority of Texas Tech!

Who cares if he leaves? I wish he would stay. It will be much more satisfying when A&M is at the level I expect. If we are hoping to beat Tech because they lose their coach, we probably could have stuck with RC. I want to win because we are the best, not because everyone else imploded.

There is more money at Tech than you think; the alums have just been reluctant to donate b/c they thought the school didn't make good use of it.

With the improvements on campus, the hiring of Knight and the progress of the football team, there are tangible results that make people want to open their wallets. There's also another factor.

It's no secret that Leach's personality rubs some of the west texas crowd the wrong way. But as they say, winning cures everything, and hanging 60 on the ags will smooth over a lot of rough spots. Some of the strongest, oldest Leach bashers have begun to warm up, check raiderpower if you don't believe me.

Leach's wife reportedly likes west texas, and if Leach leaves, the building process starts over again where ever he goes (you can't implement this system overnight). Leach is in a power conference, has his program competing, has a stud QB red shirting, there's a lot of reasons he would stay. If Tech makes a competitive offer, he'll take it. With all the pressure from alums (and the influx of old timers cash), Myers will have to make the offer, even if he personally doesn't care for Leach.

All I know is you ags better hope he leaves so you have a shot at beating Tech every once in a while. It is funny to watch you guys’ hope and pray he leaves. There's an ag over on the Tech site that confessed to posing on the Arizona board as a Wildcat, drumming up support over there for Leach. The only thing better than beating you ags is watching you squirm about the contract status of our coach.

RJ - Good pickup. As you know, some of these national recruits work out and some don't. The best part is that you are being considered by them now. That can lift your whole program. Simms wasn't the greatest QB we ever signed, but we signed a lot of good football players due to the buzz that signing generated among the kids. Good luck.

You know, if Leach could, what he should do is hire RC as ass't head coach and defensive coordinator. RC might take it, and it would fill the biggest needs Tech has. RC could recruit and mould a hell of a defense at Tech. That would make you legitimate.

Hard to imagine RC's ego would allow that. He truly believes he is a good head coach and has said he got offers from D1 schools. I don't see him taking an assistant job except in the NFL.
