Dub - spread 15% diazinon around the yard in the spring and you will not have fire ants. I have not seen an ant in Seguin since the first yrear I treated and we have had two hundred year floods in a row. You have to do it every spring. The trick is getting a hold of 15% diazinon. It is a commercial grade. Doubling the 7.5% does not work. I cannot help with the cedar or juniper or .... WAIT - save the juniper berries - isn't that where gin comes from? A silver lining at last.

Trap10 - If you think burning cedar, mesquite, or cactus is a workable solution, you haven't tried it. The wind shifts and suddenly you're downwind, and wheezing like an asthmatic. It ain't fun, sonny boy. As a mattter of fact, it sucks more than any of the objects of the sucking threads on this board. That's why we created A&M, to spend a little of our tax dollars coming up with a real solution. And what have you done? Purple carrots and cold fusion BS. Oh, and one incompetent politician with sprayed and dyed big hair. Extra session Number Four coming up. The R's can't even decide on how to steal among themselves.

Mikey - I didn't know you were a successful mass torts lawyer. I'll have to treat you with more or less respect after I think about it. Trap10 thinks I should learn from him when he doesn't know that Webb County doesn't have either a cedar or a juniper problem, it has cactus and mesquite. He may be from Brooklyn. As far as commercial Diazanon, I'm no tree hugger, but I'd like my dog and grandchildren to live after being there.

I had forgotten about the cloned sheep, and I thought mention of such a thing was taboo on this board anyway. If they won't let Alizee dance, I'm pretty sure we can't post sheep pics either.

They are arguing over who gets Lubbock. Or rather who does not want it. Might be a real problem.

Another silver lining - you can get rid of the cat anyway.

On one side, we have doctors, writers, college and pro football players - including a Hall of Fame linebacker.

On the other side, we have an idiot who can only defend his position by saying that doctors don't understand anatomy, writers don't understand a sport they've made their life for 30+ years, and college and pro football players who dare to say that turf toe is problematic are either liars or pu$ $ies.

Mikey - We ought to send Trap10 to Lubbock. First he could get a divining stick and find water, and then teach them how to grow bigger sunflower seeds. Then, the R's could make him a US Rep and we could make him DC's problem. Maybe he could find some cedar inside the Beltway.

Seguin may be the perfect Aggie testing ground. You may have mesquite, cedar and fire ants all on the same place. I do hope Tramp hears about the commercial Diazanon treatment. It could solve all his problems.

Texas Yarddog - Me. This place would be a lot duller without me.

Trap 10 - I am an old senile bean counter. I also know a hell of a lot more about Texas than you do, but I should, since I've been here forever, traveled all over it, walked a lot of it, and cussed a fair amount of it. It's the best place there is, but it would be a lot better if you artsy-fartsy schoolboy ag specialists would come up with solutions that were economically and workably feasible. We didn't pay all those taxes so you could throw up beer behind the Chicken on Saturday night.

W - you know that boat you were on last weekend was the one I gave to Branding Iron earlier this year. It was nice of him to share his harem with you. Seguin is one of the largest zits on the face of Texas. Hopefully it will fall in on itself and be buried in the sands of time. The only good thing is the freshwater Guadalupe River running nearby. There are some nice bass and catfish swimming around in front of the place, but we all realize that freshwater fish are only good for running over with jet skis.

The Guadalupe is one of the most beautiful rivers in Texas, and by the time it gets to Seguin, it's probably warm enough to swim in. It's too damn cold farther west. When I was registered at UT and screwing off all the time, I spent quite a few days at Hamilton's Pool drinking beer and trying to drown in the freezing water. Jumped off the overhang once and it scared the sh*t out of me. It was privately owned by an old rancher who charged a buck or so to go down this old rickety iron stairway that looked like it came off a building. It's operated as a state park now, so they charge a lot more. Still pretty though.

W - Above Canyon Dam is the best place to tube. West of 281 is just perfect. Below the dam there is a lot of destruction from the flooding. The Dam was built to control flooding above New Braunsfels and it did just that until last summmer when the water enjoyed an uncontrolled romp over the spillway for three weeks. There is a lovely new rock chasm down the backside of the spillway. It is really a pretty area.

Look for the journey thru the Gorge link. Leave the cedar alone and come take a look.

The gorge looks beautiful. The flood was another event unforeseen by the U. S. Corps of Engineers. We have friends we've never visited on Canyon Lake. May have to get over there sometime. I'm doing four days at Horseshoe Bay with about 20 or so shysters and honest judges next month. Serious drinking, semi-serious poker, and abysmal golf. I'll be one of the best golfers in the group, and those courses eat my lunch. Have you ever spent time in Big Bend? It's one of my favorite places.

I have been going to Big Bend since I was about ten. I'll never forget it was late June and the fireplaces were full of glowing ashes. It was hard to comprehend at the time. Summer was supposed to be hot. April is when the desert blooms and there is nothing like it anywhere.

The newest development out there is at Lajitas. http://www.lajitas.com/

Not really Big Bend, but close by.

One trip my brother in law and I hiked to the South Rim, but each thought the other had the lunch. Neither did. The have now taken the horses out of the basin and immigration has killed the beer run to Boquillas.

I've never been there in the spring, but one of our summer trips was right after some major rain, and the flowers were everywhere. One of my early clients was a man who owned half of a corporation that developed LaJitas from 20,000 acres they'd bought from the railroad for about a dollar an acre. That's about what it should be worth. I hated it when they closed the border and killed the donkey ride into Boquillas for a beer at the bar. My daughter and I walked to the South Rim on our last visit. It took a hell of a lot longer going up than coming back. We got passed by a couple of KLM pilots running up the damn thing. My wife was still sick from walking with us to the Window because the ponies were gone. She can't take much sun. I've driven a lot of the trails when they stayed in the Basin. I understand the creek at Santa Elena was almost dry a year ago. I've waded it when it was up to my thighs. It felt good to cool off. Love that place. It feels like you could run into Apaches and Rangers around every rock.

The first time I went the high bridge was not yet built over the Pecos. You went down, across and back up. The road is still there but acts as a boat ramp whenever Amistad is up. When visiting the South Rim, always go up through the meadow and down through the steps. It's easier that way. Hope some time you took the side trip to the top of Emory Peak. That is quite a view. It really is sad how the pollution from Mexico has spoiled the panorama I enjoyed thirty years ago. They will never be the same again. In the springtime the weeds (read bluebonnets) get three or four feet tall. The trip normally includes an extension to Carlsbad to see the cave. Done that maybe five times. Need to do it again soon. Too bad football gets in the way each fall. Chews up three months of travel time.

Mikey is a San Antonian that will smack Houston on occasion, and I live north of Houston and will smack Dallas a little, but it still couldn't be the perfect thread.

So I went, to look him up, in the rain

But before I could get to the building in my internet jag

He got runned over by a swarm of fire ants

So you don't have to call me an expert, expert

You never even called me a good Ag

A Techie-free zone is not a bad thing, and if you'll notice, it's relatively clean of the presence of okies also. They think their wasteland is wonderful, so why would they want to improve on the red dirt dry gulches, oilfield waste, and acres of barren caliche stripped of topsoil?

I don't think you'll be able to notice an difference in California what with all the resident terrorists you have already. A lot of them are running for Governor and you sent a bunch to Congress.
