Briles is the second highest paid coach in the country at a private school. (I think)
He does not like nor do well with the media and public speaking.
He will never leave the state of Texas.
He goes home at night sits on his porch over looking the Brazos and likes it.
Expectations at Baylor at a lot easier to meet than at Florida, OU etc.
Briles just edges Dana for 5th highest paid coach in BDF. There are 8 SEC head coaches that make more than him. And that's just base pay. If you look at a max bonus case 12 SEC coaches could make more than he could at Baylor. I could see him at least using it as leverage.
I guess your looking at the USA today numbers, which Baylor doesn't release, but everywhere Ive seen reports it form 3.5M to 4.2M, and USA today also has "0" for his bonus, which because private school, they don't have that info. Don't see him leaving for UF for $1M more and a ton more pressure. Make a bowl at Baylor and its a success.
Baylor said his new contract last year put him in the top 10 of highest paid coaches, so my guess is he is closer to 4M. He's not leaving Baylor, and I don't think he can leverage 2 years in a row to get another raise unless they make it into the playoff, which I also don't see happening.
