Jimmy Johnson once said "I'll stop blitzing when you stop trying to score on us." Weren't Ags pissing their pants when he was on their campus? How horrible it must have been... to think you might have ended up with a coach that likes to punish opponents.

It's about damn time we ran it up on someone. And although I doubt the possibility, I would hope we'd run it up on the Ags as well. I prefer a 59-point win over a Sun Belt Conference team to a 15-point win over a Sun Belt Conference team.

Although I guess that IS an improvement over Fran's 1-point win over a Sun Belt Conference team last year.

"he had some nice runs against a slow, undermanned, tired defense.....big deal...."

If only Horn fans could say that about Reggie, but he didn't have any nice runs against ASU.

I guess being up by 8 and getting a 40-something-yard TD run couldn't be considered running it up either, though. You actually need to have a decent lead to run it up.

Texas Maestro-

When where you guys ever the nice guys? You seem to run up the score quite frequently on opponents.

Oh my goodness. Listen to these crying little girls. There was 8 minutes left and it was Young's second series. All of these self-righteous losers are just pissed that A&M only won by 15 points. Some seem to have a short memory. Turn back to just last year...wasn't it 27-0 versus Baylor when McNeal threw a 59 yard touchdown pass with 6:00 left? Of course he followed that up by throwing another touchdown pass with 1:00 remaining. Even though with over 3:00 left in the game Texas had the 3rd string QB in and was running the fullback up the middle every play, I'm sure that the Baylor incident was much more acceptable than the NMSU game.

I really don't think you guys ran up the score, to be honest. Two of your touchdowns came off INT returns and two more courtesy of Selvin Young and great special teams play. Overall, your offense looked very anemic and your running game left a lot to be desired. Your OL got pushed back quite often by a vastly inferior DL. Mock was rushed out of the pocket quite often, as your OL, TE, and FB/RB failed to pick up blitzes.

Roy Williams is amazing and luckily he saved the day. I didn't have any problems with the sips trying to score late, simply because your offense looked horrible for most of the first half. I was glad to see them save face at the end, even if it was against a team whose 4 DB's combined for a total of ONE collegiate start in a game against a team even worse than themselves.

Burbank - This was a "buy" game, idiot, just like your ASU game. Such teams are paid more money than they'll make all season to come to your house and take their licking. It's like a formal scrimmage, or paying a sparring partner. When you do this to prepare for a real game (like ours against Arkansas or yours against Pitt and VaTech), you are supposed to kick the sh*t out of them. We did.

How much mercy can we show a team. We pull out our #1 QB and put in a backup wide receiver to run the offense.

Oh so you admit that you were running it up, but since it was a "buy" game it's OK? Got it, sounds like a rationalization. If the other team is still blitzing, etc, then you might have a point.

One pass in the 4th quarter is not running up the score.

And even if it was running it up, I'm glad. Screw the crybabies. Don't play us if you don't want to lose bad.

Guess we better take knees when we're up by 30 against the Ags. Don't want the Bryan Eckerd store to run out of Kleenex.

ags are lucky that we are so kindhearted. If we made a habit of running up scores, we could have easily put another 21 last year versus ags.

What will be sad is when you get one of your guys hurt running up the score like that..

Last few times we 'ran up the score' according to you ags, it was your team getting hurt.

Well, if Texas could run the ball then they wouldn't have to throw deep when up by 4 TDs.

Are you saying they should punt on first down?

Under MacII I thought that was the best offensive play...

Running up the score is part of playing a vastly inferior opponent in a certain context. A coach wants his backups to see game experience as they would in a real game; therefore, they accomplish this by running the type of offense they would run if the score was 0-0 with that personnel on the field. I didn't see the game, so I don't know for sure, but it sounds like ya'll are arguing over one long pass. If in the course of running the normal offense, a receiver happened to get open deep and the quarterback made the read he is coached to make then there is no problem. If the coach is purposely running plays designed for the home run ball over and over, running up the score is classless and other coaches hate you for it. Any player on the field is going to do the best that they can do at all times (as they should). The only time running up the score is classless is when it is done on purpose by the play calling (i.e. trick plays and home run balls) rather than the players doing what they're supposed to.

Yeah, that's a WHOLE lot different than a 59 yd pass.

And you haved *****ed about UT for years whether they won or lost, won close or big. Nobody is surprised.

Before the season, it's all, "The sips don't have any experience at QB!"

Now, while developing depth, it's "Those sips ran up the score".

You'd make a great liberal...

I have heard many, many sips *****ing about RC running up the score in years pass.

I have heard a ton of people critize Spurrier for the non-sense he use to do.

I remember the way people use to talk about Houston running up 90 something points against teams in the late 80s.

Personally, I don't care, but you sips are the most inconsistent people in the world about your arguements.

I'm very conservative when it comes to running up the score and I have cringed at times over Mack's substitution and play calling late in games. HOWEVER, nothing about this game bothered me. It was the first game of the year. We have no experience at qb. Due to ST's and defensive scores we get only 60% of the normal offensive snaps. Yet, still we throw ONE pass in the 4th quarter and it wasn't in the final minutes.

Find something else to gripe about.

Maybe the AGs should have tried throwing deep a little MORE often in their game.

I feel you should keep trying to score and win the game, no matter what the score is. Va Tech was up 28-0 in the second quarter, and they pulled all the starters and allowed C. Florida to come back to 28-21....screw that. Keep playing and score as much as you can.

Maybe, just maybe, if the Aggies would practice "piling it on", they wouldn't have lost to us Red Raiders last year.

I'm a "RUN IT UP" kinda person. I have no problem whatsoever with getting backups the opportunity to run the playbook. If that results in a late score, then so be it. I loved it when Jackie Sherrill once called an onside kick when up by 50 points over Wacker's toad frogs in the 4th qtr. Wacker (God rest his soul) had been talking trash in the papers about Jackie prior to that game. Jackie didn't talk in the papers...he just waited for his moment during the game. I thought it was just lovely.
