that is complete crap horns, if I was the NMSU coach, I'd be tempted to punch Mack at the end of the game....but he probably wouldn't stoop to his level....no excuse for that, it's hard enough for that defense just being on the field with that score....as far as him getting "reps", he can do that in practice against much better corners, it's just a shameful attempt to try to impress AP voters

Why is football the only sport where you are accused of "running up the score?" When a baseball team is up by 10, they don't strike out on purpose. Why should football be any different?

It's also important for the backups to run the offense. So, VY should be able to audible to whatever the defense shows.

I don't have a problem with it and I'm sure if the Ags were up big on someone you'd want to score as much as possible.

I remember plenty of times when A&M was WAY up and all we did was run the damn ball....there is NEVER any excuse for throwing deep when up by 5 TD's. Hell I remember times when we shut it down (ND in 01) too early and almost let someone back in the game. UT has done this for years no matter who was the coach, I guess I shouldn't be surprised...

We don't care if you don't like it this year.

Burbank, stop being such a goofball. We put the 2nd stringer in and called plays that played to his strengths. It gives your 2nd guy confidence. Quit making a big deal about it. We're not going to waste 10 minutes of a football game running out the clock. We have arkansas coming to town next week.

So the only plays that suit his strengths are 50 yd bombs? I don't buy it. If you are running a base offense that someone can't stop, then tough s*#% for them, but throwing deep is another thing completely.

That's because the Aggie offense was a RUN, RUN, AND RUN THE BALL SOME MORE offense.

You run your plays. The opponent should stop your plays if they don't want the score run up on them.

Why should the 2nd and 3rd string players not be allowed to play to their full potential??

That's why they were in man coverage, Mack, ever the strategist, was able to see that and take advantage....almost as genius as the 4th down call against Arkansas in the 60's......as far as building confidence....all that does is inflate his ego....when he goes up against a topnotch defense, he may "think" confidence, but without success against a real team, he won't "feel" any different IMO....and by the way, I'm not an aggie, my whole family is, and I've rooted for them since I was 6....so don't think this is some kind of aggie thing, you just can't let that bull***** go unchecked

For the record, I'm no sip fan. I just grew up in a family that believed if you took the field, or the court, or the diamond....you played your heart out at all times....whether you were down by 60 or up by 60.

It's not like VY is a career backup that has played a lot and just sucks. If he was, running the ball would be fine. He's a RS Freshman that needs confidence becuase I think he'll be a starter by the OU game. Give it up man, you should figure out how the ags only hung 26 on one of the worst D-1 teams in the country. I don't know about you, but that game was FRANtastic.

Mac said in postgame, that when VY went into the game, he wanted him to be able to operate as if he were starting the game. Take what they give you, he told him. NMSU were hell bent on stopping him from running, so he tossed one up on them.

Mack said himself after the game, their defense was tired and undermanned, that's where I got that from....he also said the score got out of hand and then started to say he hated something but stopped himself, so maybe it wasn't Mack's call, and maybe he does have class....and no, a defense shouldn't expect an offense to try that at that stage of the game, what they should get is a little respect....as far as the comment about giving your all at all times.....the guys responsible for that were on the sideline or in the booth, not on the field.....like fran said "kick a$$ with class"

Mack Brown had 2nd and 3rd string players in the entire 4th quarter. Just because our backups are that much better than NMSU, it doesn't make it classless to keep playing the game the way you want to play it. It was our stadium, our team's first game, and our coach's decision.

Besides, I hardly think Aggies are in a position to question the moral integrity of someone else's coach.

I'm with the horns on this one. As an Ag, I've seen us throw a touchdown pass up 40 in the last few minutes of the game, and onside kick when we were up 50-0. I've seen us win 73-0 and 63-6. Against BYU in the Holiday Bowl, we were running reverses up 40. I've also seen up punch one in from the one, just to make it look better against the horns (1989) and the horns not return the favor (1990) when they had every right to.

I have no problem going deep with a huge lead against little teams like that. Get practice in....

by the way, that ball was underthrown...I don't know why people at hornfans are bowing down before Young....he had some nice runs against a slow, undermanned, tired defense.....big deal....I remember people being all over RC(especially horns, ahem) for throwing a short pass to a runningback late in the game when the other team was already blown out....hypocrisy is hilarious (and that was nothing compared to your call)...RC even had to defend it on his TV show.....personally, I think it's typical longhorn insecurity/arrogance, they had their troubles in the first quarter and needed to reassure themselves of how good they are.....at least half of those points were given to you.....I think you're much better than A&M, but you could have serious trouble against OU, KSU, and even Tech(they won by about as much against a similar quality team), plus you play them on the road...
