OK, now I understand. Interceptions by a QB are not important, much like runs allowed by a pitcher.

BTW, I got it.

One wonders, then, why he didn't just leave early?

Because he would have been drafted even lower than the third round.

I haven't seen, heard or read a damned thing about Chris Simms that says he regrets coming to the university. He did go against daddy Phil's wishes to come here.

Do you really think he was happy in Austin? Mountains of controversy fueld by HORNS. Death threats and internet postings of his cell number. Being booooooooooooooo'd by his "fans" on several occasions (particularly that night every college football fan in the country was watching). Yeah I'm sure he was thrilled to be in Austin.

Keep searching for the moral victory, you'll find one somewhere.

No moral victory here. I have never been one of the Simms bashers. I'm just stating what most reasonable people would believe to be true. He was the orange jesus one moment, horn unfaithful cannon-fodder the next. Now he'll be claimed by the horns whenever he does anything noteworthy in the NLF. I'm just sayin, IMO, I think the horns will be more likely to laud his success in the NFL then he would be give his props back to UT.

Hornbucs, (With a name like that, don't ever let anyone accuse you of bandwaggoning <<<<<----SARCASM ) don't you find it odd that there always had to be an excuse for Simms?

BTW: Interceptions are key to gauging a QBs success, unless you are a mindless dolt that believes what the Dog and Pony show snakeoil salesman tells you.

Urban Ag, much as it would be imprudent to assume all Aggies are minimally functional retards based on what one observes here at texags, it wouldn't be wise to assume that all Texas fans were guilty of first overhyping then subsequently trashing Chris Simms based on the actions of a few despicable "fans".

My point is that I'm just not big on using interceptions as a way of measuring a quarterback's success or failure.

Somebody better alert the NFL! They've been doing it wrong all these years.

Brett Favre's usually among the leaders in INTs. What a horrible QB he is...

Kurt Warner threw 22 picks in 2001 and led his team to the Superbowl.

Yeah, but Simms is neither Kurt Warner (or whatever his name is) or Brett Favre.

UrbanAg - Your sympathy with Chris' plight is admirable. He was truly mistreated in Austin.

From the moment he stepped on campus, he was the idol of the UT coeds. He immediately set land speed records for ease of conquering eighteen year-old maidenheads. While that's not everything, it does have some priority at his age.

Due to injury, transfers, and a decision to play baseball, he was pressed into service far before he was ready. He came from a private high school in New Jersey that played football equivalent to about A ball in Texas. This was far worse for our team than it was for him. The one thing players need is playing time. He grew faster because he got to play, but he got nowhere near where he could have gotten as far as helping the team if he'd had a fifth year. He had some talent, some weaknesses, and he was not more mature than an average kid his age except in handling the negativity. He was prepared for that better than Texas kids are. He came from an area where that is normal, and he saw his father handle it. If he was a little unlucky in that this cost him a little draft position, so be it. He was lucky as hell in sperm roulette, and also lucky in which team drafted him. He will have plenty of time to mature, and his head coach is the best QB coach in pro football.

I always liked Chris Simms, and I did not approve of the behavior of some of our fans. However, I don't think he would expect anyone to feel sorry for him, and I guarantee the majority of his experience at UT was a hell of a good ride.

If the horn fans that attended the Big XII title game against CO can be considered a good statistical sample of the UT fan base (and I think they can) than at least 60% of your fan base would taunt their golden boy, loud and without mercy or regret, on national tv. That is more than a "few". This is not an embellishment, hundreds of thousands of football fans watched it live. THe booing was loud and clear. A few fans could not make that much noise, it was a majority.

BTW, don't fight this argument. Too many of your sip brethern have flat out admitted on this board that it is their right as sips to viciously boo their team when they are unhappy. It's really not my problem that happen to notice this fact, it's yours.

BFD. 90% of the tatoos in the world were not thought out very well by the person getting it. Don't you think maybe he was trying to fit in by getting a tat? A filthy rich toe-head that arrives to practice in a limo probably has a hard time connecting with inner-city black kids from Houston or Dallas.

Man, you guys suck at this.

5:32 pm, and Urban Ag is drunk.

I realize that the core of the Aggie experience centers on mythology, but please limit the fantasies ("Aggies never lie, cheat, or steal", etc.) to Texas A&M. You have neither the evidence nor the ability to discern what was and was not a majority. The proper way to evaluate Texas' fans behavior would be to do so at DKR. Unfortunately for you, fleeing DKR at halftime every other year (which belies another Aggie myth) doesn't give you a lot to go on as far as our fan behavior goes, but what the hell. Keep spinning.
