guys give randy a break, he's got to get his posting in now before conference play starts. After that he knows he'll have to disappear for 6 months.

Please refresh my memory. I always thought Hugh McElroy (sp?) was the first black player. Is this true, and was he a walk on? I was there the night he caught the pass that beat LSU. The late great Dan Cook described the play.......McElroy caught the pass and there were 50 yards of green grass and white stripes between him and the goal line, and he didn't stumble. Believe me, those Tigers were not happy campers.Randall Watson said:
Royal recruited and played black players at Washington. It was politics in the state of Texas at the time. He was no racist. Earl Campbell has plenty of good things to say about Royal.
A&M and Texas both integrated about the same time. A&M had the first walk on black player. Texas had the first scholarship player.
