to the breaking point. his entire life ahead of him and he felt this was his only option. very sad.

Brearley said Tuesday that Thomas "put huge expectations on himself ... and wouldn't let other people give him an appropriate perspective."

Thomas' funeral will be Monday at the Union United Church of Christ in Neffs, Pa., where his father is the senior pastor.

I really dont think its that sad. The guy made a selfish choice. Because of his actions he made all his family and friends miserable.

Suicide is a horrible thing, but I feel much worse for his family then him.

I agree that it's selfish, and you're correct, his family will be the ones who really suffer, but it still amazes me that at 21, he really thought this was his only choice...

I understand D's sentiments on this thread and I agree, to a point. The difference here is that this was a kid. Young people and children still really don't know who they are and can use the mentoring and guidance. These are completely different things.

Sad that someone could be so depressed they resort to killing themselves. Feel awful for the family and that the kid couldn't see any other way out.

I think selfish is the wrong word here. It's incredibly self-centered and cruel to do this to those that love you, but i doubt someone about to kill themselves is thinking "Man, things are going my way after this!".
