How many times during the season does Dirkus get a questionable call in his favor?
At least once a game if not more
Now, think about how many superstars have been allowed to single-handidly win an entire postseason series because of their ability to get a call every time they touch the ball. Jordan, Wade, Lebron, Kobe, Shaq, Paul, etc. Now, not all of those players won just because they could get to the line anytime they wanted, but it did help dictate the series. Dirk has game every now and then (Game one), but statistically he doesnt get near the respect come playoff time that the NBA gives most "stars".
Contrary to the stereotype, he DOES drive to the basket and, because he's a 7-footer barreling through the lane awkwardly, he takes a beating. Say what you want about his flopping (and he does flop a lot) but he gets the crap knocked out of him on a regular basis because its hard to defend a 7 footer going full force off the dribble into the paint without hitting him.
Personally, Im tired of the star treatment and think the NBA needs to reevaluate the definition of a foul, but until then I'll continue to wonder why Dirk doesnt get the respect that his status as a player would tell you he would get
