For the love of ...WTF is going on in those photos?!? Is it a house? A compound? A prison? And why are there no other colors but black and white in the house?

Almost 1.2 acres in a suburb of the 4th most populous city in the country, and this is what you get? What a waste of space!

I am, too! Looking at real estate listings has been my hobby ever since I bought my first house (in another state) in 2004. I'm on house #3 now. Something about looking at these houses makes me appreciate my house that much more! My house isn't perfect, but it's hard to have house envy when houses like these are the alternative!

I don't know what's going on here but none of it is modern. That needs to be redone, inside and out. Even as a rebuild it yourself project like we're doing that's just too many square feet laid out in a way that largely doesn't make sense. Unless it's just an ideal area I wouldn't even take that one on.

I would have thought it was an ok color 15 years ago if used correctly and not overwhelming everything. Normally I can guess within a few years when a place was built but I was way off on this one. I guessed 1995 because of the windows and floorplan, repainted between 2000-2005. But built in 2007, I'm not sure what they were thinking.

Just when I think we've found the weirdest one...

We should call this the "Back to the Future House", given the 80s style combined with the pictures dated May 2017. Love "the elevator may or may not work." Who is going to volunteer to test that one out?

I don't even understand this house...it says single family, but there is no front yard, and there are cars parked all along the street in front. It almost looks like a townhouse.

And what is it about people with houses on golf courses having the absolute worst decor and wanting to ask top dollar? The ugliest /most expensive houses that go up for sale here in The Woodlands are often on golf courses. Is it really worth top dollar to have the privilege of retirees in plaid shorts in your backyard every Saturday morning and the occasional wayward golf ball smash through your window?

I think this floorplan is the one out of the most recent bunch that I could do the most with, but this bathroom layout would be a real challenge. That's a bad place for a tub and I'm not seeing a lot of options to relocate it. Even something freestanding would be tough between the two vanities.

edit: I could probably work with the green carpet one too. Some areas are hard to visualize with the giant furniture that isn't laid out very well, but that one would be pretty straightfoward to bring into this decade without making major layout or utility changes. Good size lot too.

I browse from a 'what would I do with this house' perspective. Before going into engineering I was interested in architecture and interior design, but the odds of being able to make a good living at that compared to engineering weren't good so I changed focus. On the plus side, Mrs. Fife gives me more or less free reign to do whatever I want at our place.

Same color as the french press sitting on the table I'm sitting at right now. Big in the late '90s - early 2000s when KitchenAid brought it back. The layout of that place is really bad, especially how the front rooms are done. It makes a 4,500 sq ft house look half that size.
