The team was fighting to the end and made some good runs on closing. But Tennessee was better tonight on our court.

Lot of respect for how hard we fought tonight. There was no quit and no backing down. Let's learn from our mistakes and continue to improve. Gig Em!

Have to believe you can compete more than anything else. We got caught celebrating too many times and missed too many free throws. Clean that up and we can compete if we are clicking. Let's hope Moon can play more minutes soon bc she is a difference maker.

Moral victory? Perhaps. Maybe it's a start. I really want to be more positive but I can't help it during games y'all hahaha. Gig'em!!

What's most impressive about this is that Tennessee leads the nation in scoring, averaging 98 points a game. We're the first team to outscore them in a half!

Very proud of this team!! So much to build from this. Only up from here, Gig'em!

Every game is winnable.

because it's year 3 and we're elated on this board that we put up a good fight against one of the youngest division 1 coaches who's in her second year of division 1 coaching and in her first power 4 conference game. We just got beat by 13 at home after 2 weeks of preparing for this one team. Our last game was December 19 and our last power 4 game was December 8.

This is year 3 and after 2 weeks of rest and time to game plan for Tennessee's press and high octane offense, we committed 25 turnovers and gave up 91 points. And we have 5 more ranked teams in our next 6 games.

Defensively we we created 20 turnovers against a top 15 ranked Tennessee team that had not played a P4 team in 25 days and obviously has been preparing for Texas A&M for 25 days and did nothing else over the holidays. And we outscored them over the entire 2nd half.

We are what we think we are. No need to attempt to deflate us, because we know what we are. But, many fans are pulling for the girls to show improvement. Tonight we competed. Yes, that is a a low bar. But, it is what it is.

Don't worry. We understand what we are and are just looking to get better and steal a few games as the season continues.

Gotcha, good catch. Interestingly enough, discovered that Florida State is #2 in the nation in PPG average with 94.9. So that makes sense.

What was glaring to me is we played matchup zone most of the first half. We do not run it well, at all. They lit us up with wide open drives and easy looks from 3.

2nd half we went man (except when Jada was in) and result was much better. Not sure why coach did not switch the D in the first half when we are getting shelled.
.
They press well but we looked lost at times against the pressure. Surprised we were not better schemed with 2 weeks fo prep .

Good job fighting out way back into it.

Forgive me, now I'm aware the bar for Texas A&M Women's Basketball in year 3 of Joni Taylor's tenure is set at competing and to try to steal some games in conference. I'll adjust my expectations accordingly…

Also, nothing wrong with getting excited about improvement. Got to balance the scales a bit on this forum hahaha. Just saying, people were making it sound like we would get blown out and possibly be winless in conference. I believe we saw a team tonight that will continue to fight, believe in each other and improve.

I'm here to support and empower my favorite sports team!

Great news. Everyone is on the same page and knows where the program is in Joni's year 3 and we don't need to restate it over and over. We don't now have to go into every game surprised that we are top 100 type team and shocked that we are nowhere near a top 20 type team.

I just didn't know that we all have to be forced to be okay with this level of basketball, but if Gap says it then we must obey! I apologize Mr Gap! I am elated that in year 3 we are just above .200 in conference play over 3 seasons, are one of the worst teams statistically across the board in the sec, we've lost more high school recruits to the portal than that are on the team, had probably the worst recruiting class in the conference, Gap says we cannot say anything negative. Listen to Gap everyone or else you'll get a stern talking to. I'm completely through with this board, let's hope the girls continue to "fight" that's the goal Gap has set for this team! It was nice talking womens basketball with you all! See ya around the other boards!

I thought I was too, teylor, but here I am again in the fray, hoping and praying we return back to some semblance of the program we once were. I'm definitely not satisfied, but we have struggled to score points and I did see improvement in the team once Moon was in the game running the point. Kyndall had a rough night and I know she's better than that. Defensively we were not great and need to improve (quit celebrating and getting caught lacking on the counter). I do think moving to a 1-3-1 zone disrupted Tennessee a bit. They just had too many second, third, and fourth chance points. Tennessee competed harder in the first half and has shooters that we just don't have. We traded 2s for 3s during our run and every time we got within striking distance, they would nail a 3 or have two steals and two easy layups.

I guess my question for the coaching staff is this…every year there seems to be an excuse (injuries, not enough players, etc). Why? This is a problem that needs to be addressed pronto.

Lots to fix but definitely some positives from last night. I actually liked seeing Ware chirping it up on the court at the Tennessee players. Desire and Leadership!

This isn't a championship team. But it could get much better. That it took three years to get to this point is the problem.

For me the school needs to rethink its front porch strategy if anyone believes we have one. WHICH sports make for a great front porch inviting new people to know Texas A&M through our athletic department "successes"? Do all sports have the same impact?

How do we manage each program we invest in so it can scceeed and be a top 25 team every year and a top ten team one year in three rather than one year in 25?

Those appear to be run by Brownian motion at Texas A&M…which implies they are very poorly framed and led. I think I'd put Mays in charge of our entire athletic program as a three year project to significantly improve outcomes and then sell the results to the professional leagues…and likely to hedge funds.

Disappointed in where our program is in year three of JT vs supporting any positives we see from this team? I am in both camps because both things can be true at the same time. Anyone who cares enough to post regularly on this board is obviously invested in the success of this program. I enjoy reading all the opinions even though I don't always agree with them. What's the point of having a forum if we all believe the exact same thing? Why not agree to disagree and keep on scrolling? I will continue to support our team through the good times and the bad. I was in Indy in 2011 for the Natty and I'm here to support this team as well. These young women all signed up to be Aggies and they deserve our support. I will cheer any success they have this season while still holding our staff accountable for the state of our program. Happy New Year to everyone on this board! Gig Em!!!
