I would laugh for hours if she declared that she was leaving to go to law school. <Insert Hans Gruber falling gif>.

You learn the difference between a cheap shot and playing hard/aggressive by jr. high.

Not controlling your emotions and retaliating is immature.

Trying to defend immaturity makes one a fool.

Fortunately, neither player got hurt.

It's called petty jealousy. It's as old as time. It's not going away any time soon.

If CC were black and/or a lesbian, she'd be on the team. Fact.

The only thing offensive about this whole ordeal is the preposterous insinuations of the incident.

No this isn't about race nor politics so go pound sand somewhere else with that bull***** Also, if you admittedly don't watch women's basketball, why are you opining on something you know nothing about??

Carter body checked Caitlin and got called for a common foul and the league rectified it the next day by upgrading it to a Flagrant 1. Justice served, move on. No one knows why Carter did what she did, but Carter herself. Even Caitlin addressed it and said it was a non-issue and was a result of emotions getting the best of her.

Quote:

And when you base your decision on criteria, there were other players that were harder to cut because they checked a lot more boxes. Then sometimes it comes down to position, style of play for [coach Cheryl Reeve] and then sometimes a vote.

There was inclusion of a lot of young players in the pool. When we focused on the selection criteria, the players that fit that the most just happened to be above 25. That was not intentional.

Because it wasn't the purview of our committee to decide how many people would watch or how many people would root for the U.S. It was our purview to create the best team we could for Cheryl.

Straight from the selection committee chair Jennifer Rizzotti, former WNBA player.

Last time I looked, winning a gold medal supersedes anything else.

Caitlin doesn't have international experience. She needs to wait her turn and leave it to the ladies who have been there before. There is an outside chance she still gets an invite in case one of the players gets hurt so the writing is not on the wall just yet.

That is perhaps a bit naive. If you the trace drama surrounding Clark back far enough, there was an incident in the 2023 final four where Dawn Staley accused Iowa's coach of making a racial comments. I believe her comment to the media was along the lines of "I told my girls to be ready, because this is going to be a bar fight". Staley took those comments as racially insensitive which fueled somewhat of a "black vs white" narrative around that game on social media. Clark played one of her best games, I believe a 40 pt triple double, and Iowa upset South Carolina, ending something like a 60 game win streak.

Iowa goes on to play LSU in the 2023 championship game and Reece from LSU makes comments that further fuel a black vs white narrative.

Fast forward to the 2024 season and Clark's popularity skyrockets. As it grows, so grows widespread social media debate about whether she receives favoritism because she's white.

Whether or not it factored into the decision to keep her off the Olympic team, I don't know or really care. But you'll never convince me that there aren't strong prejudices and biases against her coming from the black community, that has bled onto the WNBA courts, through absolutely no fault of her own.

I don't understand the animosity towards Clark. She doesn't seem to have done anything to upset anybody other than be good at Women's Basketball. Maybe it's racial, who knows

(It's almost certainly racial)

Seattle coach calls TO with 1 second left to complain about Clark 'walking thru their bench' not seeing that she got shoved there by #4 who also was in the face of the opposing coach. They are losing their mind.
